I just picked up a Curt hitch from shop dot com from my 993. It is a new Curt unit and ships from JC Whitney for $129 with free shipping. Here is the link:

If the link doesn't post, then google ZX28909, you will get the link. Installation is easy and it is a very sturdy design. Considering this retails for over $500 and most site sell it for #315, this is a great deal. I am using it to haul a tire trailer.

Looks interesting. Can you post additional pictures with better resolution?
How much of the installation remains visible when you're not towing?
Just trying to visualize it better.
Best,
Matt

Here is a pic before I painted the bumperette supports and hardware black. When not towing, you could easily remove the hitch and reinstall the bumperettes and plate in 15 minutes. If you ever wanted a hitch, this is a smoking deal.
Here are the official installation instructions:

Just to clarify, I am not selling my hitch. However, this is a great deal to anyone that wants an affordable hitch for their 993. Use the link above to purchase at the $129 shipped price.

Thanks for the lead Jeremy. I was thinking that this would be great for hauling bikes as well. I wish it came with a receiver to accept those types of carriers. I would much rather take the 993 up to the mountains for mountain biking - I could get a two-fer.

My desire, too. Might just get one and see if I can adapt it to a receiver style from the drawbar. Bikes on the back, golf clubs in a storage box on the roof rack.......could do a USA tour next year with the 993!

I looked at the Harbor Freight kit but decided to go with a complete unit from Northern Tool( thanks - Dehavens). It comes fully assembled with 12' tires and a removable tailgate. This past Saturday they were offering an additional 10% off the $299 sale price. As you can see from the second picture. You could easily fit 8 wheels total or 4 wheels and your toolbox. 4 Porsche sized 18's will fit across with room left over. I plan to put a metal bar through the center hole of the wheels and connect it to the trailer with a "U" bolt on each side. You can then drill a boll in each end of the bar to put in a padlock. Should be pretty simple. Also, need to pick up a 12" spare tire for the trailer which is about $50 and the wiring harness for the 993.

Great deal on that hitch. I paid more than that to a fellow R'lister for a used Dalan (same hitch) a few years ago. Haven't used it yet as I still need to get a trailer. I know a local source that makes custom enclosed trailers out of polished diamond plate aluminum with torsion axles. Cost is about $1200 but very trick looking and your stuff is for the most part secure during over night stays.
