Default Should I? G/F wants to drive my car

OK, we've been dating 3 years, and I've been waiting for the question. She finally asked it, wondering when I was going to let her drive my car.

I told her I would post her question here, asking for advice.

She's a sweetheart girl, and can drive a manual, so I don't have any convenient excuse to say no.

I'm wondering what opinions I'll get, so feel free to share.

Of course. Let her drive it.

Who do you care more about? your car or her?

If you don't, she will always resent you for it.

So...damned if you do, damned if you don't....

Edit: BTW, my wife won't even ask me as she knows how **** I am. But then again. we've been together over 25 years, so she knows better....

Don't even consider it. It has lead to nothing but trouble in our happy home
If you do, make sure you have room for a second one....

I met my wife at a PCA autocross where she was driving her Porsche. One time (only one time) I let her autocross my car and she beat me. On road trips sometimes I drive ... some times she drives ... sometimes we both drive.

lots of people drive my car with me in it. my wife on the other hand, drives a manual easily but doesn't want to drive my 993 because she thinks I will get upset if she doesn't drive it correctly! its a car. enjoy it! good girlfriends are always tough to find! the 993 market is pretty soft so there is always another good one out there!!!

It's encouraging to see mixed marriages so accepted these days...air cooled and water cooled cohabitating peacefully in one garage...

If I was in a serious relationship and my GF wanted to drive the 993... So long as she has enough experience driving a manual trans and she wasn't a rolling accident, or a rolling near miss... I would want to share with her the joy that I get from the car...

As was said above.............it's a car. Be thankful she learned what a manual is.

Way back when I taught my friend's 13 y.o. daughter to drive a manual with my '68 RSR/IROC wannbe, 2.7L RS/901 gearbox setup. Car survived. In her mid-30's now, I'm sure she's probably the only one of her friends that's ever been taught to drive a manual!

I let people not only drive mine , I let them borrow it .
No biggie and yes I am very fussy about the condition of my p-cars .

I think this is very difficult to answer with out pics... Just kidding of course.

I would say let her drive it, if she can capably drive a manual them why not let her, she will always badger you if you dont..

My wife's a great driver...beat me once in an autocross driving our Euro M5...has her own MINI Cooper S and really puts her foot in it. I've repeatedly asked her to drive the Porsches but she declines. I'd say if your GF wants to drive your car, that's reason enough to let her. (Secret tip: Whatever she does, right or wrong, don't give instructions unless she asks!)

Weird. My wife DIDN'T want to drive mine. She would say "it's just a car, I'm fine with my Audi." It took her two years to finally get behind the wheel. When she did, she drove it better than I did the first time!

Absolutely. There's nothing more attractive than a woman driving a 993. I've been trying to get my wife to drive mine for 2 years. She's driven it once.

You know that she may just be testing you and that she really doesn't want to drive it, don't you? Let her drive it, and if she gets addicted you have a reason to get another one (Porsche that is...not girlfriend).
