Price on a 1997 993TT with about 30K miles
Hello fellow members,
Just curious if you guys/gals think a 1997 993TT with 30K asking $62,000 is a good deal?
2-3 owners (per Carfax)
Clean vehicle - no accidents/paintwork
Options as far as I can see is sport seats, xenon lights.
Thanks in advance!

I think that is a really great deal, even in this economy. It's the best deal I have heard about on a 97tt with those kind of miles. As you know, the obvious questions would be
- is the color combo something you can live with and resale if that was ever needed
- is there any mechanical or cosmetic issues whatsoever

For that price and that mileage it looks for sure interesting. Here in Europe, a 993TT like that one is just impossible to find out at the same price.
So if $$ and PPI are ok, just take it!
-What are the out-inside colors?

That's not a bad price for a 97, but there are some insane deals being had nowadays due to the economy. Offer him $50k cash. You would be surprised how difficult it is to sell a car in this price range right now, even at a "great price" like this one.

+1.... I keep an eye on the 993 prices they seem to have went up a bit from April - end of May now I'm seeing the prices going lower..... I have seen some good deals out there in the last two weeks and a few bought by flippers that show up a week later for sale in different place! If these prices keep dropping I might just pick another car my self! One's nice two would be better!

I just sold my cab and in doing so dealt with a lot of low ballers who frankly pissed me off.
In the end I sold to an enthusiast who understood the value of buying mine over a cheaper one.
He will win out as a result in the long and short term by having a better car.
While there are fewer buyers in the market these days, good cars should command a fair premium over bottom feeder cars.
Time and patience is the key...if you're a buyer and want a solid example that is in the right condition, think about that before offending the seller.
A few bucks up and both of you will be happy with the transaction.

High miles, but everything was basically done in the last 50k miles. Many features one will never find in any 993tt regardless of price.

I think some of you are in utter denial of what's really happening with the economy. If the owner of the car understands what's actually coming down the pike, he would take a cash offer in hand rather than hold out for a few thousand more in the future. Hell, inflation alone would make $50k today better than $60k in a year. (I'm talking about real inflation, not the crap the government publishes).
If you're in a position to buy a car in this category right now, you are in the buyer's market of buyer's markets. And it's only going to get better in the short term as more and more sellers realize what an utter frivolity cars like these have become.

I'm not one to jab away online but the suggestion to offer $50k to a guy who is asking $62k for his car is sort of akin to hoping your neighbors home will sell for well below asking -- it's not good for him, and its not good for you since the price your neighbor gets for his home is going to contribute to establishing a new, lower price for your home.
Many people on this site are going to be selling their cars in the year(s) to come. If Rennlisters are contributing to the belief that P-cars are declining in value, then, they likely will. Won't be good for resale market.
I've noticed this theme come up on several threads over the last few weeks and I just I'd contribute this to the discussion.
...If you do get it for $50k, I'll take it off your hands for $48k..;-)
