Default OT - Ordered Four Post Lift

After much thought I ordered a Bendpak HD9 four post lift along with all the goodies including a pneumatic/hydraulic sliding bridge jack. I will no longer have to run circles around the car with floor jacks, jack stands and hockey pucks. My wife and I will both have winter parking too. I won't likely get it installed for awhile due to some upcoming vacation time. Life sure is backwards as I should have built the big garage and got the lift before I restored 4 cars in a 12 x 22 garage.

Congrats, I've always wanted a lift, but don't have the garage space/height in our current house.

Until then, I'll have to settle for the low-rise/low tech 4-post lifts (just ordered them yesterday):

Some day I'll have the real thing, but I'm excited about the jack-stand upgrade until then.

Matt, make sure you take plenty of pics through the installation process. We'll stay tuned.

I am looking to add a 4 post lift with the sliding bridge jack for my new garage/stable that is under construction. Do you mind sharing where you ordered the Bendpak HD9?

Nice Matt....

Looking forward to photos!

I wish I'd planned for higher ceiling when I built my home shop/garage. Dang.

I'm in Canada so I bought from the only Canadian dealer - Babco. You might try Metro-Lifts in the US. They advertise on Ebay.

Thanks Mark. I went with 9 foot walls and an 11' ceiling. The first 42" on each side is only at a 9 foot height. This was all I could get away with but it will work.

I presume you're going to apply for the home reno credit?

And your first project with it will be the re-gear?

What ceiling height is necessary for such a lift?

IIRC is 9'6" is the preferred or minimum... although I guess one consideration would be the type of cars for whcih the four post is being used for (i.e. lower profile cars might allow for lower ceiling height).

Maximum height on the bendpak 9 is about 6'. Add 4 inches for the ramps, the height of the "upper" car and don't forget those light fixtures or door rails aboce all of it. Preferred works out to be over 11' depending on the car you put on top.

I like my HD9 a lot. Purchased from ASE in CT and drop shipped from the factory. BTW, the factory has terrific customer service. They answered lots of questions and shipped multiple replacement parts that I'm pretty sure my dud installer lost or broke.
