Hi,
Bought one too many rear reflectors after the incident involving my son, a football and the rear center reflector.
The first rear reflector I bought had what appeared to me as a rust stain in the lens. Tought i'd be smart, remove the bulb and rub the stain out from behind. Wrong... Humidity got into the lense (ever see condensation/water in your backup lenses???) look at the pictures. This is what you will get. Seals seems to break loose after time.
So I decided i'd do a ''Frankenlense'' housing with the broken lense with lense with the rusted housing). Pretty easy job!!!
Took the first one (with the good housing) and cut away the lense tabs keepin he tab retainers intact. Wow, easy, took about 1/2 hour.
Took the seconde oune (with the rusted housing) and this time cut off the tab retainers keeping the lense intact. Easy too.
Cleaned up the goop and i'm now ready to seal it back up making a good lense with rear housing.
Tought i'd share some pictures :
green arrow points to what i call the tab retainer. Pink arrow to the tabs on the lense.
HTH

Center part of the reflector (between the fog lights) is hallow. There's this gray reflector in the housing. Just need to figure a way to get difused light between this reflector and the lense.
I'll play around with they idea.
I just gotta watch out not to put too much bling into it!!!

Wonder how it would look with the letters painted black, as the older models.... I'm sick of people asking me what type of Camaro my car is?.... I say "Porsche Carrera.....!" not Camaro..Duhh. If the Porsche stood out a bit more that might end that!

I've never found it the case that people don't know what kind of car I drive, so I've never understood the need for larger, better, backlit, or more Porsche and/or Carrera badging.
