Real easy .... pull the driving light relay, and make up a 15amp fused jumper ( 2 male spades, fuse holder, & 3" of wire), and jump #30 to #87.

On the 964 there is a relay that can be installed to turn the fogs into daytime running lights.

With the headlights turned off the fog lights are always on. When the headlights are turned on the fogs work as normal; when the switch is pulled and the high beams are off, otherwise they go out.

Bola:

When I had my DLR's activated last year, my tech advised me that on some 993's it's just a matter of plugging in the relay; on others there is some simple additional wiring in the fuse block required. My car needed an extra wire.

I should mention that this is for fog light DRL's. There are numerous threads here on how to do it. To find them, do some 993 specific searches under "daytime running lights", and you'll pull up lots of threads. Here's one of them:

...the first thing I disconnected...TimothyMoffat
I haven't disconnected mine, post import, because I like the idea of having some additional conspicuity, and I'm not aware of any problem of the lights overheating and burning out from daytime use.

But I see a lot of newer cars driving around Calgary without them, so I think a lot of owners are doing the disconnect after their imports are completed.

I, too, have a Canadian spec 993 that has DRL's. I rather like having them, as most people here in Los Angeles drive with their heads up their asses most the time. Anything at all that can make my car more visible to the 17-year old texting while driving her SUV, I'm all for.

i leave my drl's and new HID's on 24/7 just for the fact that it may help someone see me. I have been turned into, turned left in front of several times (reason my 89 went to the graveyard) and anything that helps me being seen I go with.

Yeah, true. I'm counting on the fact that most girls her age notice anything bright and shiny!

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the answers!
I've check the fuse box and found #30, but not #87....... Am I blind?? If I remember correctly, the line of fuses starts on #1 and finishes on #39, all on the edges in a L shape. Then I saw the boxes" in the middle, but none showed a #87.....

The link above posted by Rinty shows a picture of a fuse box that looks the same as mine....

Nope - leave the fuses alone!! .... look for & pull out relay #31 - they are numbered on the CE panel, and look at the 4 pins on the bottom, 2 of which are labled #30 and #87 .... plug the fused jumper into the corresponding slots on the CE panel(central electrical) where the relay resided ( check the link, #3 & #5 sound familiar).

What you are doing is directly feeding switched +12V to the feed/input of the driving lights: #30 is the power supply buss in the CE panel that comes live when the ignition key is switched to 'run' position ... aka 'switched power' .... so they will be on at all times with the key on.

Lifted this pic of a fused jumper .... 2 male spades & fuse holder (which normally has wires attached)

US cars don't have the wires, relay socket or relay. I had a pcar shop in Phoenix add the necessary components before I brought the car north. It was $200 w/labor IIRC.

That's a myth perpetuated by the Dealers .... all 993's have a driving light relay to be pulled for this $5 fix ..... and there is a similar $5 trick to mod DRL's for the 996 by jumpering heated seat power to the lights ( & the dealer wants $400 to do that).
