Default Non airbag streering wheel install - resistor question???

Anyone know how the best resistor size for a 993 (with a 4 spoke airbag steering wheel) to jump the airbag lead after removal of the the stock wheel to "fool" the airbag ECU (ie keep the light off and keep the passenger airbag working)???

"search" is my friend...after alot of different attempts it appears that it is either a 2.8 ohm or 2.9 ohm (both have been reported to work) 0.25 watt resistor.

posted for future searches

Dave, I did this when I put my RS wheel on. I got some extra parts for that "just in case" sitch.

PM me you address and I'll make one up for you. I have the proper male plugs, but not the plastic holder. You just plug this into the airbag connection behind the dash and use electrical tape to hold it together. No splicing!

I removed the airbags from my beast. Used 2.8ohm 0.25watt. It worked for a while and then one day the lights just came back on. I checked the resistors and replaced them with spare ones. Still the same. These days I just click the "!" button to turn the light off. Anyone get this scenario ?

Here you go, Dave.

.062 Male Molex connectors and 2.8 Ohm 1/4 watt resistor.

3.1 Ohm measured resistance. I'll send it out tomorrow.

Once the AB light comes on, you have to have a dealer (or a Bosch hammer) to reset it. Simply replacing the resistor will not turn out the light.

Thomas, I'll be replacing my wheel with Momo and could you the same thing. What male ends are those? Ah, I see, 0.062 Molex. Need to go find those.

Dave, I believe that you'll also need a 964 L-spahep part to make your horn work. I have it, can look up the part number if you can't fin it.

Correct you need the 964/993 contact see http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt67_5...-Wheels-Parts/

I just replaced the "bus wheel" with a Nardi one

Dave, I forgot to make a wire for the horn, so it will go out tomorrow.

For those that are looking for parts (I only have enough for one spare), I got them from:

http://www.mouser.com/

Molex pins p/n 538-02-06-2103
2.8 Ohm 1/4 watt resistor p/n 660-MF1/4DC2R80F
