CDR 220 question

I just had my CR-1 replaced by a CDR 220 I bought off eBay from a Porsche dealer clearing our NOS stuff. This was allegedly a remanufactured unit. I had it installed yesterday and when the CD is inserted it reads "ERROR." I have read the manual, to no avail.
I assume it is simply not working and there is nothing I can do to get it to play the CDs, but I thought I'd check here first.
And, no the CDs are not MP3, but real store bought CDs.

Sounds like it's hosed. "error" message is not even mentioned in the user's manual.

I just removed one from a friend's boxster and was surprised that the adapter harness he received from Crutchfield was wired incorrectly. It's a long shot, don't know why that would throw an error code (if yours is wired incorrectly as well). If the radio works fine, then I would presume there's something wrong with the CD section.

Be sure the green ground wire is securely attached (the one that was attached to the cage on the CDR-210). I believe that it's part of the anti-theft system and the unit will not work without it.

Thanks guys. The unit works fine on radio and with the iPod (through the remote CD player adaptor), so it is not a universal operational problem. Just the CD playing function....

I kinda agree. If it was brand new old stock, it might have a tab or something you have to remove or pull out to free up the CD carrier.
