Has anyone compared the various options with a sound meter? I'd be curious to find out what the db's of each muffler are.

I haven't tested them with a db meter. Each Stage is more aggressive and louder than the next. This is how they fall:Motorsound mufflers (quietest), Stage I, II, III, and Supercups (loudest).
This may help

The novelty has worn off on for Stage III's with me because I have been waiting 2 1/2 months for mine---the tips arent in stock which has halted the entire order.

I just had my car in the shop for some misc. love and that was supposed trying to tackle 5 birds with a stone. With a failed inspection (3rd brake light was out---I had to have it rewired), expired plates, and a rattling shifter, I had to get in and waited it out long enough. Thats all fixed as of yesterday.

The Haggert Precision valve covers and Stage III's are now on the back burner for the next shop trip---probably early next summer.

Sorry Darin, cancel my order. Its no big deal and we can chat next spring.

No worries. Sorry about the delay with the exhaust tips. It is totally frustrating me, as well.

Just got my III a couple days ago for my RB cab but not ready to installed them yet on the RB soooo....... I took off my bypass mufflers off the white cab and installed the III so I can enjoy them for the weekend .
My thoughts is they are not much louder at idle then bypass exhaust a bit different sound ( throatier )the difference is at WOT the IIIs are EVIL ! For on a cab it is far from being too loud at cruising speed just the acceleration is very grinning .

No hesitation to recommend III to anyone who has the " joie de vivre " .

Cheers Guy

Bump.

I installed RSR mufflers. I have a slight drone, and I think the sound could be better. I'm looking for FiskerD's solution, but can't decide between Stage II or III.

If I like the loudness of RSRs, but want a Fister sound, which should I get?

Thanks for your help, and I apologize for resurrecting an old post on an even older topic!

Matt,

Surprised the FDM gang hasn't chimed in yet, but based on what you just said, I think Stage II would suit you well.

+1

Had the RSRs and sent them back because of the drone, then went to StgIs and really liked them, more snarl and no drone whatsoever. Went to StgIIIs and think maybe I went a little to aggressive, StgIIs would be my suggestion.

Ive decided to stick with my Mille Miglia set up for the time being. Its not a bad set up and sound, although curiousity may get this cat one of these days.

Can anyone comment on general level of "noise/ volume/ resonance produced" by a Dach X-pipe/ cats vs. Fabspeed? Does one produce less than another?
