Default Rear Fender Shields

Where are you guys getting them? Don't want to get a clearbra guy to do them because I heard the OEM shields are thicker. Getting ready for a detail so i need to order them ASAP!

This is such an easy DIY job. I purchased a roll of the thickest clear 3M material, and used the old 'fender shield' as a template. The whole process, from cutting to installation, took less than half an hour for both sides.

I found a supplier online, but if you have no luck drop me a Pm and I will search through my email archives for the details. Needless to say, the cost was a fraction of the OEM part, also 3M.

Default "Stone Guards"?

DIY Like this? $17.28 for a 12" x 12" chunk...not bad:

I paid $54.42 per side at Sunset.

I did sunset as well, like dcdude.

Get out the heat gun, goo-gone, and a stool. If they are cracked or hardened you're in for a full day. Such a PITA unless they are still in somewhat good shape.

Mine are still pretty nice so I'm hoping for an easy removal.

I have a new set of these still rolled in the cardboard tubes from Porsche. They are at least 4 years old and came with the car. I wonder how long they are good for in this position?

I'd buy clear... it looks better than the color matched, IMO. Unless you know a dude who already has them in the right color

I also made my own... and planned on making these but ran out of time.
If you buy the material, be sure to get the thicker version. Cannot recall the thickness but can look it up.

Last but not least, be sure to make your template before you try to remove the old ones. If it doesn't make it out alive you are klinda screwed.

Cactinator, I have templates for NB cars and a process for cutting the material. If you want more info, let me know.

They should be OK. Just put them in the sun for a bit, then weight them down overnight. Mine were rolled up for a while too and they came out great.

FWIW I had to go clear. The polar silver might have looked a bit odd on mine

How difficult is the install (I know the removal can be a pain)? Any issues with air bubbles, etc?
