Our Header Muffler kit is intended for track use because it doesn’t use any cats and is designed for maximum power and sound. The package consists of our RSR equal length headers with or without heater boxes, a dual inlet/dual outlet muffler and muffler pipes if you wanted to run straight out of the headers for the track. The Header Muffler kit will eliminate the heavy 24 Lb. Stock cat and both 17 Lb. mufflers and replace it with our one Fabspeed muffler to maximize flow and power with the least amount of restriction. Alex, I have searched for a sound clip of the RSR exhaust, but not found any. For me the sound is the most important, the difference in power increase of the various aftermarket exhaust systems is insignificant. On the track, plus or minus a couple of psi tire pressure makes a bigger difference than exhaust system power increase, so the souns is the driver for a new exhaust.
Does the muffler have an internal X-pipe, i.e. merger of the two exhaust pipes (6 to 1 with dual outlet)?

That last picture is pure sex. Does a 993 with that setup sound like a top fuel dragster at idle?

How about offering an unpolished version for less?

Fly911, we have a 993 on the lift that we are currently installing the Headers with heat on right now so we will have some Videos of both the Headers with Muffler and the Heaters with Muffler bypass pipes. We will post them on our website as soon as there done, so I would check the website for updates. I will also post them up here fro you guys to check it out.
The muffler system does not have an X pipe inside but it uses our own Core design to give it a nice deep growl. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi AOW, the car sounds very aggressive and sporty at idle, but you have to hear when its under load and at high RPM, its unbelievable. We dont have them in a non polish since we do them in a product line and they look much nicer when polished under the car, but if you guys are interested, I can make you a nice offer if you want to do a small group buy.

Alex, according to an e-mail I got from Joe Fabiani (Dec. 5, 2008), the RSR muffler has an X-pipe inside. I also talked to him on the phone, where he explained that the RSR 2 in 2 out muffler has two U-shaped pipes horizontally mounted inside of the muffler, where the pipes are opened and welded together, so the exghaust from the two sides merge (like Dach, Cargraphic and Stebro X-pipes). When you have a 6 to 1 merge on an X- or Y-pipe, you get a 4th harmonic exhaust sound frequency that will give you a GT3 like high pitch sound (music !!!).
So what is correct then, does the Fabspeed RSR muffler have an X-pipe inside like Joe says, or not like you say? Please clarify.

Fly911, The RSR muffler does have an X Pipe design inside. I got confused with our regular Maxflo Muffler setup. Let me know if you have any other questions and I hope everything is well.

Alex, absolutely nice work. You state that it can be used for 993's up to 1998. What do you do with the 4 oxigen sensors. Do you use an epsilonian device to keep them hooked up or do you change the software? Don't know if that's possible though.

Ed, the headers have 2 spots to input the primary 02 sensors and the 2ndary sensors you will not need to use, so you can just zip tie them to something on the car and thats it. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

3.8 with Fabspeed RSR headers with custom baffles and 3.5" tips

Since I last posted on this thread, I have installed the Fabspeed RSR header/muffler kit. Compared to the original exhaust, it's way more agressive, all the way from idle to engine cut off @7,300rpm. Above 7,000 it sounds just like a GT3, at least from the inside of the car. Around 3,000 there is a light resonance inside, but not too bad. Fabspeed has posted a video of their 993 with this system, racing on Watkins Glen. The sound is awesome, the headers and X-pipe give it a very different sound than a regular 993 exhaust. But in my personal opinion, I would like it to be even louder. I know that Fabspeed is working with an X-pipe with resonators rather than the dual inlet/outlet muffler, that will make it louder (and maybe also save some weight).
As far as the HP gain, the 993 original headers are very good, and the main HP contributor is probably the cat delete (10-12HP?). For me the sound is the most important. However, for the 946 and older 911's, the HP gain is significant, I have seen claims of up to 25HP, but no dyno to verify the results.
