Hey all. Recent 993 re-entry buyer and I am soliciting opinions on interior and seat combos.
I have a '95 C2, polar silver with black/classic grey interior. Black dash, headliner, parcel shelf, door panel tops. Everything else classic grey. Standard seats.
I recently traded some stuff for a complete black interior out of another 993 C2. Included are the same door panels with the hi-fi option as my grey stuff <and> the big score (to me) softback sport seats with the supple leather option. The guy at GAHH said he had never seen seats like these. The driver side has bolster wear that a local specialist can repair for me with new leather for about $350.
Anyway... what would you guys do? If/when I am done with this car, would the next guy like all black interior or is the 2-tone acceptable?
On the seats. I love these softbacks, but I also like the 996 sport seats that I see around for sale for about $2k in like-new condition. What might my 993 sport seats fetch do you reckon?
The seats I have now and may put in my car:

That's the second set of Supple sport seats I've ever seen, the other being the Flamenco jobs on ebay.
Do the 996 seats bolt in? I guess the question is, do you intend to continue to go down the "modified" path? If so, go for the 996 seats and whatever else you want to do. Otherwise, stick with the repaired 993 sport seats. I'd be tempted to spend your $1,650 (net after the sport seat repair) elsewhere on the car. Can I assume your new back seats are also Supple? There could be a front back matchig issue to consider....
Or, you add magical hard backs and sell your car for one meeeeeelion dollars

Kie,
It all depends on which seats you find comfort sitting in. As for interior colors, I would think a single color interior would appeal to a greater number of people as most cars were finished this way. The earlier 911s like my 82SC has tan leather with dark brown door tops and dash. This seemed like the trend at that time. GL finding hardback seats.

My back is wide so I find that the seats with the high bolsters (very similar to the old style sport seats) tends to squeeze to much, so over longer trips it might become irritating.
I like simple schemes, so I tend to like one-tone, but two toned interiors can look fantastic with the right scheme.
Cheers,
Mike

I am sure you can get 996 sports for less than 2k. I know a set just went of 1100 on 6speed.

First let me say that I haven't sat in either of these seats. However, personally I would go the 996 route as the new leather will make the world of difference with regarding the look of the interior. To me that is the first thing I notice when I get into my car (hence why I am in the middle of a redye). I think when the time comes I am going to shoot for a set of the 996 sport seats and have the centers recovered to match the 993 style rather than the 996 pattern. Don't know what that would cost though, but that could be an option to keep the classic 993 look to the interior.

Kevin

The Ebay ones have the pattern that was used from the mid-'80s all the way through the 964s. MUCH more common. The early 993/late 968 sport seats are much rarer. And since 993 owners are so fanatical about correctness, likely worth much more.

I have the seats in question with non supple leather. I have enjoyed them since day one and can report they are very comfy and extremely supportive. They could be considered rare. I know they were hard to find in 1996 when I was buying my car.

+1. I looked long and hard for mine. IMHO this is the best seat Porsche has made up until the new adaptive 997 sport seats. Much better lateral support than the hardback seats.

Keep those 993 soft backed sports seats (as long as you fit, they are tight!). IMO, a far better "sport" seat than the later hardbacks and they look terrific. Two-tone black/grey would look nice and give the car a unique look. BTW, is the car in your avatar, yours I assume, Scooter's old ride? Love the ducktail!
