Default All Aluminum 993

Was playing around with an artsy type 933 model I made up. It is 2.5 pounds of solid cast aluminum. I purposely made it rough to give it that old school trophy type look. The tiles measure 16" on the diagonal so it is roughly 5.5 inches long. Close to a 1:25 scale

The pictures aren't that clear and don't do it justice. Just thought i would share.

Sand cast so the mold is broken for each part made.

But I do have the tooling. Was thinking of making up some more. But have to figure a way to make it economical. The cleaning and polishing is a fair amount of work.

Tony,
Count me in for one if you decide to make these in quantity.

Very cool.

That is pretty cool! Did you carve the tooling yourself?

I would be interested since it looks so cool...and can do the polishing myself no problems.

Cheers,

Mike

Would bead/media blasting do the trick?

Well I could make them in kit form and finished also. It is actually made of 5 pieces the wheels are cast separately although they are glued in place. It was a lot of work to make the tooling. I still need to chase some of the detail in deeper. This is just the prototype.

I was also thinking of making them in brass or bronze for different looks. I would do magnesium but it would corrode to quickly.

Grit blasting is too aggressive. Glass bead would be better. It all depends on what finish you want. I like the way it looks with the distressed look. Others might like a perfect polished finish.

It will be a while before I go into production on these but will let you guys know if I do. If I do make them they will only be in limited numbers.

Thanks for the complements.
