Default Sound proof need advise

Hi,
My 1994 993 is like a swimming pool when I got it. As such I took off all the carpet. I am thinking of putting a layer of sound proof material then the carpet. Please advise what materials should I go for. OR please point me to a thread where someone has done it before (sorry couldn't fine search button).
Picture shows interior wet carpet and the running water from the carpet.
Thanks guys.

I assume you've sorted the leak?

Search is temporarily broken.

That makes my stomach hurt a bit. Make sure you aren't gonna get mold.

Maybe Dynamat for soundproofing?

Yes, found the leak (picture shows broken canvas top). Been under the sun for several days, there are mould on the wire cover.

I have heard of Dynamat Xtreme as well as Damplifier/Pro from second skin. However I have problem purchasing them because I am not in the states. Have call the manufacturer (second skin), soon will search Dynamat Xtreme.
Thank you.

Not really sure extra sound deadening material is worth it in a cab since the noise level is already so high.

I put Dynamat Xtreme on the rear firewall and deck. It made a noticeable difference.

Also the Xtreme has adhesive on it, so you just put it down and it sticks. I think you need a heat gun (or a hairdryer) to put on the regular Dynamat.

Check out this thread.

I'd stay away from any asphalt based product anywhere near the firewall. Once that tar gets hot it stinks.

Dalvater,

How long did it take to complete your project?

It really didn't take all that long. You'd be surprised how much you can do once you get going. My one bit of advice is to take your time. Go slow and really think out how you're laying down the pieces. I started in the rear and worked my way forward. I laid all 40 sq ft I purchased of this product...http://www.lobucrod.com/ It gives you a great base to lay down the carpet over the firewall.

One mistake I made was cutting the center tunnel carpet too low on the passenger side. (where the passengers left knee would be)

Take your time go slow and it really is an easy project. If I had to guess I'd say I spent 10-15 hours cutting and placing the new carpet. There are a few detachable pieces on the driver and passenger side footwells that take some time to cover. I just sat down in front of the TV and took my time wrapping those. Oh and the center section that houses your switches is a pain in the ***. Another good one to do in front of the TV.

Thank you for all the feedback. Will stay away from Asphalt base product.
Just order the sound proof materials from second skin.

If you decide to go asphalt, do a search on the web for brown bread. It is very similar to dynamat but much cheaper. I used it in an old international I have. you can order it on ebay.
