Default White haze on vinyl caused by Armour All - Will Vinylex undo the damage?

First time I've ever had an issue with Armour All.

Searched here and learned that AA is not the best thing to use anyway, but now my rear speaker deck is a hazy white.

Any products you guys know of that could cure this? Vinylex was suggested here once. Would that stuff work?

I have used Leatherique cleaner on the dash before. Less oily look than AA.

I was looking for a great vinyl cleaner and saw many recommendations from Rennlisters for a product called 303 Aerospace Protectant. I bought a bottle and it works great. No downsides so far.

Ed,

You're welcome to bring it over my house. I have 303, Vinylex, Back-to-black and other chemical concoctions. I'm sure one of them will bring it back.

Yes, stay away from Armor All. I only use it on tires when my Eagle tire protect ant runs out.

Take a look on the net about Armour All...its garbage. I have used 303 for years, and it does not leave the surface sticky like Amour All. Armour All also seems to be prone to gather dust, as well as degrades vinyl, so it actually does more harm to your dash than nothing at all.

Cheers,

Mike

I use both 303 and Vinylex. I tend to use 303 outside on the rubber and Vinylex on the inside vinyl. Vinylex is supposed to be a cleaner and protectorant (is that a word?) so it might get rid of that white haze. It also doesn't attract dust and has a sheen very close to factory. Let us know what works.

Take the bottle of Armor All & throw it away or give it to some one you don't like.

303 is great stuff, but to clean & protect, I like 1Z Einszett.
Plastic & Vinyl cleaner, this stuff leaves no resudie, & will clean just about anything off, even works well at taking off wax from bumperetts.

Cockpit Premium, no shine, just clean, & antistatic, so dirt doesn't stick, you can also use it to clean the gauges, & radio screen.

While we've certainly established that Armour All should be relegated to the trash bin (and I have), it sounds like no one has personally experienced the white haze (thankfully). I'll start by trying the Vinylex, the consensus pick, then go to the 303 if it doesn't work.

What a shame - I attended my first PCA meeting tonight, and I parked on the street to avoid scrutiny. The horror!

Ed,

Sergio nailed it. Back-to-Black is the key. That's the stuff I was mentioning to you tonight...

Still have an image of the "jeans-suit" in my head.

Yup. AA is something I have never used nor even understood. Why would I want my dash and/or tyres to have a wet look? Didn't we get over that with "wet look" hair gel in the 1980's?

BTW, guys, are any of these products sold retail? I have a spray bottle of 303 carpet cleaner, but I believe I had to order it from a web site (and found it to be fairly useless, actually). So, is any good vinyl cleaner sold in retail stores?

A somewhat related question. I've used a product for years to help with leaks in my T-tops on MR2. It is called Parteze from Kano Labs and is a mold release, officially. What it does, however, it rejuvenates rubber and makes it pop right up, causing leaks to stop. Works amazingly well, actually. I'd like to find out if anyone else using it or a similar product (essentially, a silicone mold release spray) on their rubber seals around the convertible roof. If so, what do you use?
