Told you this was easy and told you the joint number was .62. All you need to respect is the center of joint. Before cutting original joint, measure distance from dust boot cover flange to middle of knuckle. Once you've measured a couple of times to make sure, cut knuckle, grind shaft to make it smooth, slip in universal joint, place joint so center of knuckle is at same distance as original knuckle was and weld it.

Once you're done, install to test fit and measure where you'll need to drill hole for locking bolt.

Stock rods are still not given compared to RS rods but it could work with an exchange core charge.

I think this is great!
If it would help I would like to donate my stock shift rod to the cause. It is out of a 97 and in very good condition.
Let me know,
Neil

We should have an exchange program going soon... just need to sort out the details. You fired all of this up and you are obviously first, Mr. Cactus.

Sure, shouldn't be too long. Guess I should order more parts.

We have a couple of extra shift rods right now but if Mr. Cactus doesn't need it, let me know.

OK,

Without trying to derail this thread any further - no - seriously.....

Would this bodgy half assed solution by Cactiiii help me and the black car? I had a "SSK" and installed it - however given my penchant for ripple strip hopping - it was removed......

Now - the interesting bit - I HARDLY noticed the difference @ speed on the track.

Tell me the benefits?

S.

I would be interested in an RS Shift Rod (put me on your list)!

How have these performed compared with OEM RS shift rods and benefits over OEM stock shift rods on the track?

Shift feel is a personal preference, I think.

The RS rod is a solid connection to the shift shaft in the trans, so the feel is much more precise. I tried both and I prefer the precision of the RS rod.

I have the RS short shift lever an fork and I currently have a modified OE rod that is better than the original but not as smooth as the RS-style rod. Like many others here, I added thickness to reduce the rubber dampening in the rod. It stiffened it up a lot but a week or so ago I tried another 993 with the RS rod and WOW. So clean, crisp... precise keeps coming to mind as the best description. Side by side the RS rod is way "cleaner". I want one.

This is just a much lower cost solution than the RS rod. I cannot wait... comon UPS... hurry up!
