I know you are 993 guys but any thoughts? I haven't been under the car to look myself at what is really in there.

Thanks.

I'm not totally sure... never got into that part of my 964 when I had it.
I agree, PET seems to indicate that there is already a nice solution in place.

If someone had pics of the setup that would help...

I just found this comparison of 964 RS and 993 RS...964 uses a sloppy ball. Probably just a poor representation in PET.

Mark & Darin, Got the "golden rod" and RS shifter and fort in this weekend. Easy install and the shifting is sooo much better! Sent the core back to you today (w/ a check). Thanks for all of your hard work, Tony

I removed my rod this evening. It's getting shipped out tomorrow for surgery.

funny you should ask... yes.
We just made our prototype over the weekend and shipped it to a RLer to try it out.

We are combining this forward rod with a short shift lever and fork, the OE RS Porsche parts.

It is similar to the Weltmeister kit, except it will be all stainless steel and a complete bolt in kit. The Weltmeister kit requires some drilling/grinding, etc.

Ours will be a bolt in replacement and includes the RS lever and fork.
Shoot me an email if interested. fdmotorsports@comcast.net

If anyone has the front rod installed after already had the rear (solid) rod inplace please post your review. I'd like to know the improvement of the front one.
thanks

hn,
unless the nylon ball/socket joints are very worn, I am not sure you'd be able to feel much of a difference. You might be able to but it would be slight. Assuming all is in good working order, most of the slop is in stock the shift rod itself.

There are 3 reasons to replace the front rod:
1. The nylon ball/socket joints get sloppy and can pop loose, leaving you stranded
2. The kit also replaces the stock lever/rod with the RS parts. Shorter shift throw.
3. It is a really cool upgrade.

Some people here have made their own. Just need a few parts, some cutting/grinding and, in some cases, welding.
We are making a kit for those who don't want to do their own.

Our prototype pic below (final version will be all Stainless Steel)

I was thinking the same when I saw the Weltmeister (spelling?) kit and went with the RS instead. But if the fron't ball/socket fails, no doubt I'll consider the front solid rod.

Thanks for the input.
