WTB: RS Shift Rod

Hi.
I like this forum...alot more active than the 964 turbo one.
I was looking at PET and it appears the solid linkage is the only option for 964s, albeit a few part numbers.
I know you are 993 guys but any thoughts? I haven't been under the car to look myself at what is really in there.
Thanks.

I'm not totally sure... never got into that part of my 964 when I had it.
I agree, PET seems to indicate that there is already a nice solution in place.
If someone had pics of the setup that would help...

Mark & Darin, Got the "golden rod" and RS shifter and fort in this weekend. Easy install and the shifting is sooo much better! Sent the core back to you today (w/ a check). Thanks for all of your hard work, Tony

We just made our prototype over the weekend and shipped it to a RLer to try it out.
We are combining this forward rod with a short shift lever and fork, the OE RS Porsche parts.
It is similar to the Weltmeister kit, except it will be all stainless steel and a complete bolt in kit. The Weltmeister kit requires some drilling/grinding, etc.
Ours will be a bolt in replacement and includes the RS lever and fork.
Shoot me an email if interested. fdmotorsports@comcast.net

unless the nylon ball/socket joints are very worn, I am not sure you'd be able to feel much of a difference. You might be able to but it would be slight. Assuming all is in good working order, most of the slop is in stock the shift rod itself.
There are 3 reasons to replace the front rod:
1. The nylon ball/socket joints get sloppy and can pop loose, leaving you stranded
2. The kit also replaces the stock lever/rod with the RS parts. Shorter shift throw.
3. It is a really cool upgrade.
Some people here have made their own. Just need a few parts, some cutting/grinding and, in some cases, welding.
We are making a kit for those who don't want to do their own.
Our prototype pic below (final version will be all Stainless Steel)
