Monterey.
You can have a great drive down from BC...hit Highway 1 at the Oregon Coast..easy to be in SF in two days..only issue may be fog on the coast but either way it is a wonderful drive.
As other have said, staying in Monterey is expensive..I would look at trying to stay in Santa Cruz. It's about a 40 minute drive to the track and to Pebble. I usually drive down each day..easy drive but does take some of the fun of being out it Monterey at night.
Parking is easy for Laguna..however is a pain for Pebble. That said, it is amazing the cars you will see in the parking lots...too fun.
We usually do Laguna on Sat and Pebble on Sunday..the "Italian" show on Friday has a new location which did not get good reviews..plus the price was getting out of had. The club corals at laguna are almost as fun..however the Ferrari club was invite only this past year (someone should take the stick out of their ..)
As a note, if you do Pebble (and you should at least once) you want to get their early..the crowds this year were terrible.
It can be an expensive weekend (Pebble is $150) but is worth every penny if you are a car guy.

I would love to do both!!
We are talking about going to Keystone, it's going to be a whole weekend filled with Porches! I think we can do the whole week, including the drive, food & hotel for under $3000.
I went to Monterey back in the mid 1990's, it was awesome, but I was a punk kid. Just drove in for the day, everything was expensive, passes to get in were like $50. If you stay at a cheap motel, & don't do the 5 star lunches, you can also do the weekend for under $3k.
The thing that I don't like is having to fill the 993 with CRAP California gas!!!

Well I think I've decided on Monterey but I haven't ruled out both. Just need to come up with a schedule. To those that have been to Monterey, I may ask for suggestions on how to see the most. Invite only for the Ferrari coral? Are they better than the rest of us? That's the one thing that really irks me about Ferrari, the whole thing of being "invited" to buy certain cars and alost having to prove yourself before even entering a showroom. Oh well, this attitude (and the new California, yuk) may bite them in the a$$ one day. Sorry for the rant.

Couple of times my wife and I have wandered into SF Ferrari (the Mill Valley owned company store) we were greeted and pretty much left alone. Doubt I could have just requested a test drive, but they were friendlier than the usual treatment I've gotten at Porsche dealers over the years!
This was in the high roller/max sales years, too.

Fri: Wine valley drive & winery tour, 10AM - ~5PM
JD-- If I make it to Monterey, my 993 may be in the Pelican Wine Tour and Canyon Run.
$45/ person; doesn't appear you need to be a Pelican member, sign up by Aug 7. Hopefully see you & more RLers soon!
This shows the proposed "To" route. The return will be a different, northern route, & may feature more swerving ...

Sat PM: Tarpy's Roadhouse, near Laguna Seca
JD-- With that in mind, I just zapped an e-mail to the General Mgr of Tarpy Roadhouse for Sat PM. Conveniently near track. Pelican Parts Forum folks have the following reservation: "Porsche" group on the patio, 3:30 - 6:30. Dinner reserved for 24 @ 7:15 PM. See thread "Monterey Historic Races-Aug. 14-16...roll call/info."
Should be perfect to check out the p-cars in the p-king lot, meet folks, grab grub & brews.
For us RLers, I randomly requested a reservation for six on the patio from 3:30 - 6:30, & ten folks for dinner @ 7:15 PM. Under my name, Jäger.
IF y'all like this idea & want to pal in with Pelican Parts, the organizer is Brian, member "Wyvern." I'm not a PP Forum member, so if this is a go, would be great if someone contacts him or posts something about Rennlisters being there, too.
Tarpy's Roadhouse; 831-647-1444; 2999 Monterey Salinas Hwy; Monterey, CA 93940
I'll let you kow what I hear from Tarpy's. If this gains momentum, I'll try to start a related Monterey get-together thread here.

Five or six of us are getting together and driving down from the Seattle area. Planning on two days down, though my wife and I are considering making it three with more time on the Oregon coast. Thurs night on the road is staing in Crescent City, CA.
See you there, or on the road down!

Surj, Sounds good I'll definitely be in the Corral too. How much is the Concorso these days, to show and to enter as a spectator. I stopped going after it was $100.00 to enter. I can see almost all the same cars for free every weekend down at Santana Row.
