Parade or Monterey?

I booked my room in Carmel couple months back and feel like I was lucky to get it. Kind-of sucks that the B&B/Inn required a 4 night minimum stay. I called tons of places and was told by most that the 3-4 night stay was the norm, as well as, people booking accomadations for next year this year - kind of a standing reservation thing.
I'm really excited about the trip. The wife and I went up to Carmel last Sept for our anniversary and just had a great time; I LOVED the drive up Hwy 1 and she loved all the shops, "cute little inns," and we both loved the perfect weather. My brother and his wife will be following us up for the Historics this August, the plan is the girls shop and do their thing on Sat while we head over to the track.
Carmel is the place where you walk down the street admiring parked cars while the wife looks the other direction into store windows. Should be a great few days.

Tim-- Great question - I'm trying to plan my Porsche-based plans to similar destinations. Thanks for the inputs here.
Regardless where I end up, I look forward to meeting Rennlisters in person. Unless we're as socially under-developed as I fear from some posts ...
Andreas-- What was that about driving your sister? Is that what they call it now?

Ummmm..............someone might want to act quick as I found via hotels.com the oh-so-wonderful Goodnite Inn in Salinas (hey, we're not going there to sleep........) at $58/nt, totaling $197 for a Thu-Sun stay.

Thanks for the head's up. Most prior years I would be away on the Monterey Historics weekend. I believe this year we are traveling in July and October instead, so I could possibly make this.
Hmmmm... tempting. I need to check with the Social Chairperson, who is also the CFO, and see what gives.

Unfortunately the overnight accomodations around Carmel/Monterey area feel compelled to gouge people with their exorbitant rates and fixed day/stay requirements. I'd probably be up for the road trip.

I looked at photos from the PCA Parade and it looks lame to me also. I vote for Historics.
As for lodging, Laguna Seca has great camping at the track. Clean, hot showers and lots of happy campers.
I did it last year and had a blast. Tent, bag and queen air mat is all you need.
Food at various Monterey restaurants.
AND, your car is just a few feet from you at all times ;-)

Monterey for sure!!Last time they were the featured car,{I think 1998}they brought all the Special Porsches from the Museum in Germany..It will probably at least another 10 years before Porsche will be the featured Marque again,so don't miss out.
If it is anything like 1998, Porsche will have a huge Parking Corral at Laguna Seca.
Another great event that weekend is "The Quail,A Motorsports Gathering"Hottest ticket in town to try to get.Only 120 cars and 3000 Spectators.Tickets aren't cheap $350.They go on sale FeB 2 and will probably sell out that day.
They are celebrating 30 years of BMW Motorsport and again have accepted my 1975 BMW Factory 2002 Turbo for this pretigious event. Quite the honor

Parking at the track,in the Porsche Corral can get your car pretty dusty, but maybe Porsche will get VIP parking on the paved section in the infeild.Thats how it was in 98
Concorso Italiano used to be the place to be on Friday, but from what I heard they moved it to the Marina Airport and it sucked last year.
