Parade or Monterey?
I'm thinking of several big road trips in the 993(s) this coming summer and was looking for advice. If you were to go to the 2009 Parade in Keystone CO or the 2009 Monterey Historics (Porsche featured this year), which would you choose? Anything I should consider doing now to prepare for either? How difficult/expensive are tickets/hotels for either? What else should I consider with these two events? As always, all suggestions appreciated.

I would choose Monterey as it is a compendium of many events: Concorso, Historics, Concours d'Elegance, and many different auction venues. You will be wowed by the cars on display, the spectator cars driving in for the event and even the cars in the parking lots! Tickets are relatively inexpensive and can be gotten through your the local PCA chapter. Lodging is a different story! Lots of places are sold out and are expensive. You can stay outside of Monterey and drive in as lodging will be much cheaper. I'll be driving in from San Jose.

I'd definitely head to Monterey. Luckily I live close enough to drive down for the day, but as WPOZZZ suggested, you should be able to find lodging in the San Jose area for far less than it would cost in Monterey, and the drive is only about an hour. PM me if you want some hotel suggestions.

Monterey for sure. I am likely to get blasted for this, but the last Parade I went to (Portland) I found pretty lame. I am a techie, hardly any techical content, just a bunch of really old people (some in wheelchairs..) who have been going to the event for decades and have their old boys club....
Oops, did i say that?

THIS year, Monterey of course. Not even close. Even I'll end up going down there. Maybe we'll even get the 910 down there. Obviously NOT for the actual historics, but maybe for some ancillary event.
Drove the track for the first time in 2+ years last Friday. Sucks sometimes not having a car that passes sound..........
