Does anyone know the answer?
I have asked the question here, of Wheel Enhancement and of a well-known/regarded dealership - to no avail.
Thanks.

17" can clear the brakes radially easily enough, it's the transverse clearance behind the spokes that could be an issue and that will depend on the width and o/s of the wheels'
oem 8x18 Speedlines don't clear by much transversly.

Thanks, Bill.
That is exactly my concern.
Even though the Sport Classics that are specified for NB 993s have the same specs as the Cup IIs that I am currently running (7" x 17" ET 55 and 9" x 17" ET 55), I don't know whether the spoke design will create a clearance problem.

I have factory 17" Cup IIs on my car too - and they clear the Big Reds.
I am pretty sure that Porsche specified Cup IIs as winter wheels for 993 TTs (different rear width and offset than NB).

Although not a 993, I had Big Blacks (928 GTS calipers, same size as Big Reds) on my 968 coupe with 17" Sport Classics. I put a small spacer on the front just to help the wheel clear the dust cap - I think they were 1/4" or something close to that.... Not sure whether or not you would need spacers, but the wheels will fit.

I didn't do the "Big Red" install, so something must have been different from factory Big Reds, although i was told they were the same.

I'm not sure if the MMs are heavier than the factory versions. I would guess they might be by a small amount, but probably not much and certainly not enough to make a difference on the steet. I have heard they are not as strong as the factory ones, but I have no way of confirming that and while I have seen one person post a failure by one of the MMs a few years ago, that is only one data point and not enough to really draw any conclusions. I did bend one of my wheels on the track and had to replace it, but that was from hitting a deep hole at the edge of the track that could likely have bent or broken most any aluminum wheel, so I'm not sure much can be drawn from that either. At this point I just use these as rollers and for the street.

I had a cracked D93 wheel on the rear of my 968. In sourcing a new one, my info indicated they the Porsche ones cracked relatively often. I think the rears are light than the 8" wide 968 fronts. You can find the weights here, maybe they are accurate: http://www.wheelweights.net/
