That is a great idea. Mine is deleted and was going to get my ECU flashed to ignore it... I am assuming it is a simple circuit to turn off and on a pump motor? Can someone share a pic of that harness and motor wiring inside? I recall there was a connector similar to the injector ones to power it. Anything else?

Wow that looks simple. Maybe just wire in a 12v led bulb. I assume that is a just a 12v lead going into the motor? Would be a simple test to see when the motor should turn on and off... and trick the ECU!

It's pretty high amperage. The fuse feeding SAI pump is 40A.

What you all are missing is that the 96+ use the O2 sensors with the SAI. What do you think triggers the CEL when the lines get blocked in the heads? It's the lack of flow the O2's are reading. So putting in a resistor, or anything will still trigger the CEL due to the O2's not detecting airflow.

It needs to be coded out on the ECU, this should be easy, as only US cars have the stupid system anyway.

Thank you for confirming my thoughts. Back in my Audi days I had done the Sai delete with resistor but absence of "airflow" was picked up by sensors and would trip the ecu and throw a CEL.

Thanks for sharing. Guess I need to flash my ECU!

One of the best benefits of removing my SAI so far....getting my entire arm around and behind intake to reinstall the rubber throttle cable grommet into the bracket (mine is a 95) after an engine drop. Would have been a much bigger PITA!

One of the little things you learn for the second engine drop!!

I got around to removing the SAI system today and installing the plugs from Patrick Motorsport’s.

For anyone attempting to do this, I have a couple of recommendations.

First, use a flexible flare but wrench. The Gearwrench one I used allowed me to remove the air pipes without cutting them or removing the fuel rail.

To plug the air line from the backside of the air cleaner box to the removed SAI pump I used a 1” nylon hole plug I got from Lowe’s. I applied RTV to it prior to installing the plug to keep out any unfiltered air.

Also, If you want a professional look, instead of plugging one of the vacuum ports on the four way splitter, order a three way splitter. Porsche part number 92857372702 or FEBI/Bilstein 08643.

The 1" plug I used was Hillman part number 139483
