SAI system removal – success!

Why did you do it? Just to be done with it?
I plugged in my Durametric computer & turned on the SAI pump, & mine it flowing quite freely. It looks like a LOT of labor just to remove it.
I would also like to know how much weight it saved. I'm about to do my 90kimi service, & this might be something worth doing while I'm in there. My plan was to clean out all the intake & valves, so the intake should be off any way.
or would you wait for a motor drop, so it only takes 30min to remove?

It's not very heavy. Maybe 5lbs max. You'll save just as much or more deleting the CC which is also under the manifold. Or you can do what I did and delete both (of course I added all of it back and more with the v-ram manifold).

It's all Photoshop work... thanks again for all of your thoughts & hints regarding the surgery. Really not that hard - now that I've done the deed.
No change. Just the satisfaction of simplifying things under the decklid.
If you are going to remove the intake assembly anyway, then this is a simple process. I did it because I never intend to sell/trade/whatever this car, and this system was a ****-poor solution in the first place. Its existence in the engine bay of a '95 is irrelevant. Also, I love to learn more about this fascinating, yet primitive, vehicle.

Andreas, Great time Saturday! and you are right, it is a ****-Poor system.
I have a hunch anyone with OBD1 will follow suite. It is amazing how accessible
the oil temp and oil pressure senders are without that hunk of metal.
Even though it's not an upgrade, I would just look at it as righting a wrong.
The Porsche Gods are smiling down on you as I write this, as well as those 993 owners across the POND who don't have to deal with this crap anyway. LOL
So I guess engine mounts are next - and what ever happened to Cactus?

OK, I read that thread.
It still doesn't answer the question - Where's Cactus?
He has been conspicuously absent, ever since the suspension job that we don't mention anymore.
Should we go on without him?
