Bumping an old thread with a question.

What have you guys done with the vacuum line that goes from the SAI pump and runs up to the front of the engine?

I pull it out of the 4-way connector that’s right above the fan shroud, insert a small stainless allen bolt, and clamp it.

Cool...thanks Andreas. Just wanted be sure I should be pulling that piece with the vacuum lines as well.

I still have no idea how you manage getting these out the front. I could barely get my hands in there with the motor out. As others have noted, the wiring on mine was toast. I like the idea of getting to the oil pressure sender with the 8 lbs of junk in the way

I removed one two weeks ago while doing a list of other items. It’s a process. Pulling another SAI system on Monday.

And this is what P-Daddy’s SAI wiring looks like. No need to repair it as we removed the entire system:

Wow! I guess the rest of the 993 fleet should be a bit concerned about those SAI wires! I should order a new one today right?

Thank,

Magic

Hold your horses. I want to see if I can cleanly replace the wires in the unit I have on my bench.

Has anyone figured out how to fool obd2 cars yet? A ceramic resistor mounted to heatsink that is equivalent in impedance to sai motor's internal windings?

Yes. I asked that very question a few months ago. 96+ cars can have the SAI removed and the ecu updated so no error codes are thrown. I forget the name of the company but if my 96 starts acting up, that's the way I'm going

Thanks Andreas! I am under no false impression that my wire fared any better than the 95 model years. Just looking for a solution to a probable issue since I have to keep the SAI system in tact on my 1996 model year 993.

Thanks much,
Magic
