O/T St. Louis locals, dining recommendations?
I'll be in town Jan 19 - 23.
Staying just south of Forest Lake park.
People tell me that is Little italy neighbothood?
If so, yummy.
Any restaurant recommendations in the area?
I eat pretty much everything, but cow and prefer fish / pasta / veggies and good wine.
much prefer local hangouts versus the chains.
thanks
Craig

If you like tapas - Modesto on Shaw in The Hill (little Italy).
If you're staying in the Central West End or near Barnes Jewish, Liluma on Maryland and Euclid, Eau Bistro at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel.
If you're willing to drive farther, plenty of recs, just pick a genre.

Been a few years, but if you head towards the Clayton area (just west of where you are staying) you will find a lot of options. Also, make sure to go to Amighetti's on "the Hill" (St. Louis' version of little Italy) for lunch...

downtown eats
If Sidney Street Cafe is still open. I highly recommend their herb crusted tenderloin! Excellent eats.
Haven't been back in years, but I would eat there in a second.

Sidney St Cafe is still open, or at least it was last night when I ate there! Yes it was excellent. Also try Niche and eat on the roof at Vin De Set (unless it's super hot out of course, which it hasn't been). Papi's is the BBQ place to go for lunch but minimal/no seating. You'll probably be in the Central West End (CWE) and there's a ton of places there, good sushi (but avoid Drunken Fish if you can). I think Clayton is overrated but there are a few good spots there. Check out Lafayette Square and Soulard. CWE, Soulard and the Hill are my favorite eating neighborhoods in STL. 5 Bistro just moved to the Hill--it's great. Then there's Monarch and Harvest.... Lots of awesome restaurants in STL.
