Any chance you have a more direct link to the parts? I think this is a great mod, though not for everyone.

Don't know about this one.... do you really need the instruments to be that bright?
I cant say I've ever had trouble seeing mine at night...
I sort of think LED's look a bit out of place in an older 911...a bit like non functional carbon fibre.
No offence intended, just my thoughts.

If I change the bulbs in the tach for LEDs can I also change the bulb(s) in the OBC or would I just have to live with a mismatch?

TIA

I'm considering this to help the lights match those on my head unit as well. My head unit can change colors, but none of the ones available really match the car very well. Hmmm...

Just did this mod. I had the original LEDs from porscheleds and had some dark spots. Ordered the ones from superbrightleds and installed them last night. Popped out the old LEDs and stuck in the new ones. Whole thing took about 20 minutes.

Thanks!

On the subject of of LEDs, has anyone replaced the brake/tail/turn-signal lights with LEDs? Source?

Thanks!

So how many bulbs in total did you buy...13?

Also did you need to buy additional bases to install the bulbs in the CCU? Did you buy those at Porsceleds or from another vendor? TIA!

With the front plate out, you can see two bulbs. Just change those out. Test to make sure the LEDs lights up before popping the front plate back on....

I buy 15 LEDs. Only need 13, so 2 are for spares.

Yes, you need the additional bases. The Porscheleds kit only comes with 11. You need 2 extra for the CCU. In my case, I soldered & modified two OEM bases to make 13.

I'm with you on this. Why do you need to change the OEM bulbs to LED's?
IMHO it looks a bit tacky and out of place in a 993. I can't think of any reason I would want my 993 gauges look like Audi or VW...
Of course you gotta keep in mind what they say about opinions and a...holes...

i personally like the cool white because it resembles the more modern interior lighting that's on the 997's

I ordered the type 74 screw base from China. What I received is different that the OE bulb base. For lack of a better term there are 2 molded pointed plastic 'guides' around the circumference of the base which have to be inserterd in the back of the instrument before the metal ears. The 2 'guides' are wider than opening in the back of the instrument.

I have a photo of the type 74 base but I am having difficulty insertng it.

They are difficult to photograph but I did the best I could. I didn't force them into the back of the instrumnent for fear of permanent damage.

Also the 74 xhp3 led bulbs were a loose fit when installed in the type 74 base.

I am thinking I received the wrong type 74 base. Does anybody know where else the type 74 bases can be purchased or have any other suggestions?
