Here is a pic of the B8.4D-WHP in situ. I have had them a while and really like them. No spottiness at all, quite an even spread, and they dim nicely too. True plug and play solution.

For some reason I can't seem to get the ones in the middle tacometer one to work. Is there a trick to that one or something? Usually i adjust it while the lights are on but since you have to close the lid i cant.

I had to bend the little tabs to make one or two of them to make good contact, but it only took a little trial and error with the lights on to find the right 'bend'.

The issue I have is that I went with aftermarket gauge faces and the speedo & tach are very "spotty" with current incandescent bulbs - almost to point of not being visible at night.

What led bulbs did you use to replace the buttons on the CCU and in the ***** on the dash?
That's probably because the aftermarket faceplate doesn't have a light diffuser on the back, which will then pass light directly, causing brighter spots closer to the light source. The easy fix would be to get a very thin light diffuser sheet and glue behind the gauge faceplate. It will spread the light evenly across the gauge and shouldn't affect anything else.

Pretty cheap fix too.

Bumping an old thread here...

PO of my car installed LED bulbs in the instrument cluster. I'd like to go back to stock. Anyone here has the stock bulbs (11 of them from what I understand) and be willing to sell them to me? If so please PM me.

Thanks!

FYI.

The stock BMW (at least the older E36 generations) dash bulbs are the same as the Porsche's. They also come in two brightness. Just stop by a BMW dealer and ask for E36 (not sure other generations) instrument/dash bulbs.

This is the BMW part number for the E36 instrument cluster lights with the small black base: 62 13 1 383 311

Bringing up an old thread here.

It's been years since I last attempted LED gauge lights. Back then (2006-2007?) they were expensive and real spotty. I really like the newer SMD type lights so I bought a typical T5 wedge bulb that goes in the #74 twist base. Works nice, but I need more twist bases. I tried these but they don't fit:
http://www.autolumination.com/74.htm

Who's found a good supply of JUST the #74 base? SuperBright LED's don't seem to carry them, Autolumination don't fit, and SportCarLEDs seems to just sell the whole bulb / base if I'm not mistaken. I like to use my own T5 bulb. Just need a twist base #74 that fits our cars.
