+1, my girlfriend just got me another subscription. They usually feature at least one sick 911 every issue.

My thoughts:

1. Must haves:
- Porsche 911 Story by Paul Frere

2. Good reads:
- Porsche 993 Essential Companion by Adrian Streather

3. Not useful to me:
- Porsche 911 Performance Handbook by Bruce Anderson (very little 993 content)
- 101 Projects for Your Porsche 911 by Wayne Dempsey
- The Used 911 Story by Peter Zimmermann
- Excellence (but a great read!)

Just put the finishing touches on a silly (!) 993 GT2 replica article for the next issue. Possible on a pretty wild Turbo soon. One of my guys dropped the ball on a story on a ridiculous car, so I need to get on that. After that, I dunno. I'm sure some good ones will pop up. Been getting on my authors to vary the mix more. I'd like to see more impact-bumper 911s, 964s, 993s and (gasp!) 996s. Want to see more variety in the kind of stories, too.

I just don't know where they got the idea that I am obsessed with early 911 stories. I like those, too, but, hell, I'm just a friggin' 914 guy who learned to love 911s, too.

P.S. Sorry for cheating on the non-911 books!
Another place to check for the RS book is Toad Hall. If Frank doesn't have something in stock, he usually knows where to find it.

Not a magazine, but a collection of articles of Porsches on EVO. I picked one up. It's cool, 1/2 thick, and is printed on nice glossy paper.

I actually was pretty disapointed with that book, it was way too little on the Porsche and way too much about the author.....maybe I am too technical.

For those more technically oriented, I have (among others already mentioned) :

How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines - Wayne Dempsey
Porsche 911 - Owners Workshop Manyal - Haynes
Porsche 911 Shop Manual - Cylmer
Wood and Anderson's 911 Engine Overhall Course Notes (Ok, not technically a book but plenty of good info..you need to take the course to get the notes).

and for those who like articles/details:

Porsche 911 Takes on the Competition - Brooklands Books
Porsche 911 Gold Portfolio - Brooklands Books
The 911, 912E and 930 Authenticity Series - Mark S. Haab
Porsche 911 Red Bood - Patrick Paternie

Cheers,

Mike

I'm going to have to catalog all mine, but there is about 15-20 books. But not all on the 993. I also have a good collection on BMW books.

The 993 EC IS the book to have!

It's not a book, but I couldn't pass the opportunity for a time-current plug: the December issue of GT Porsche. The cover shot alone will say enough to the 993 lover.
The GT Purely Porsche website's already advertising their Janaury issue. Last notice to procrastinators like me to get it in gear & go get yours! I picked one up tonight at Barnes & Nobles; one of their last copies.

Question

Back to 911 books, anybody have "Porsche Speedster - The Evolution of Porsche's Light-Weight Sports Car" by Dr. Michel Thiriar? (JoAnne?)
If so, do you recommend it? [RL reference here, "1994 Speedster Widebody?"]

JoAnne-- You & Robert continue to amaze.
Thanks, good info. .... wish I had asked B4 Christmas. Birthday's coming up (at least once a year). I'll put it on my wishlist; hopefully you'll hear from me soon!

You might be surprised at what offer we would take!
Around 75-80 Porsche books and over 1000 Porsche scale models GOTTA GO!
