I'm looking at adding to my library, which already contains enough magazines to fill at least two pallets, and was wondering what people recommend. I'm also wondering if anyone could help me find two in particular. 1. Carrera RS by Konradsheim and Grubner. 2. Porsche 911R, RS, RSRby John Starkey. I've tried amazon and ebay with no success.
So, what's in your library?

Not enough of the ones I want, and too many of the coffee table ones that were given as gifts!
But I do have some good ones:
-Porsche 911 Story, by Paul Frere, a must have.
-Porsche 911 Performance Handbook
-The Porsche 911 Redbook 65-99, is a nice reference book
-Porsche 911: Model by Model, by Laurence Meredeth, has some nice pictures of the earlier cars.

My newest addition is PORSCHE by Rainer W. Schlegelmilch and Hartmut Lehbrink. Published by h.f. ullmann. It is a table top type book that gives a brief history of each model with great photography. It's unusual in that it is written in 3 languages: english, german and french. My wife found it at Costco.

Here's my list (all that I can recall at the moment):
Porsche 911 Performance Handbook by Bruce Anderson
Porsche 911 Perfection by Design by Randy Leffingwell
Porsche 911 Story: The Entire Development History: Paul Frere
101 Projects for Your Porsche 911 by Wayne Dempsey
Original Porsche 911: The Guide to All Production Models, 1963-98 by Peter Morgan
Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera: The Last of the Evolution by Tony Corlett
The Used 911 Story by Peter Zimmermann
Porsche 993 Essential Companion by Adrian Streather (2)
Porsche: Portrait of a Legend by Ingo Seiff
Porsche 911 Road Cars by Dennis Adler
All of these books I found to be very good for many different reasons. My personal favorite as a book to read is the one by Paul Frere. After growing up reading Letter from Europe in Road & Track each month I found his writing style in the book to be both familiar and easy to understand. It is also loaded with details from the factory along with his personal observations and road test scores from the 60s onward. His semi-autobiography My Life in Cars is also a great read.
Since we're in the 993 forum it almost goes without saying that Adrian Streather's book is required just like a spare DME relay. I was fortunate (and honored) to receive the PO's copy after buying my 993 so I keep one in the car and one at home.
Cheers,
David

Just a few of the ones listed above:
- The essential companion
- Perfection by design
- The ultimate history of Porsche
Many of them are so similar, it doesnt pay to buy all. Also have tons of magazines, and as I mentioned in a recent thread, I think EVOs Porsche Supercars is the best magazine issue ever.

Now you guys are listing more than 911 books. Great list however, especially the Vic Elford book and the 917 book.

Just put the finishing touches on a silly (!) 993 GT2 replica article for the next issue. Possible on a pretty wild Turbo soon. One of my guys dropped the ball on a story on a ridiculous car, so I need to get on that. After that, I dunno. I'm sure some good ones will pop up. Been getting on my authors to vary the mix more. I'd like to see more impact-bumper 911s, 964s, 993s and (gasp!) 996s. Want to see more variety in the kind of stories, too.
I just don't know where they got the idea that I am obsessed with early 911 stories. I like those, too, but, hell, I'm just a friggin' 914 guy who learned to love 911s, too.

P.S. Sorry for cheating on the non-911 books!
