Who here has driven their car to its upper limits. Anyone go over 160mph?

Unfortunately(or maybe fortunately), VW decided to limit my top speed to a governed 130(135 indicated).
But the car is such a heavy little pig, it felt really stable and planted at that speed for an extended period of time.
When I was young and extremely foolish, I worked in a high-end import repair garage. I had to take a customer's '72
Lamborghini Miura out for a warm-up before an oil change and service. Let me tell you, the sound of that 12 cylinder
howling behind me really spurred me on! I got it up to 180 indicated before it felt like it wouldn't go any more, but that's
probably a good thing because the Sprain Brook Pkwy was not the place for a midday speed test.
But I'm older and much wiser now. If I had the chance to do it again, I'd probably stop at 165

On a PCA tour, we were in the 140mph range for some time, with the sun roof open.
Fastest I have been was in my old M3 @ Spokane Raceway, around 170mph on the LONG straight.

On track the fastest recorded speed of my 993RS from my datalogger shows 153mph on the back straight at Goodwood (then I brake at 150m for a 80mph right hander).
At Elvington airfield with the 3.8 race engine fitted it made 162mph GPS in approximately 1.7 miles of runway before I had to brake to turn around (see photo below of the run launch).
Finally, some years ago when I first bought the car, on the open road with minimum wing and SO2 tyres and in completely standard condition with a 300hp 993RS engine, it ran the speedo to 186mph.

vMax doesnt really interest me so much due to many things; legal, injury etc., but the rate in which you can get to these speeds sure does
