Default Radio problem

Hi all,

I did a drive by this wonderful weather we had today. Then waiting for my wife, I played with the different function of my Becker radio and discovered the following:

All speakers are working, but the rear ones are really weak, and it seems that they do not produce any bass.
It is obvious that at equal volume, with full front fadder, the front speaker are working normally and loud, when at full rear fadder, the rear speakers give no bass and the sound is very weak.

Anyone with an idea on this?
(my speaker are the OEM ones with the Nokia sound system in the driver door pocket)

Thanks for your help...and I cannot resist to post a picture

Nothing really constructive to say here other than when I bought my 993 I was surprised at how much the sound system in this car actually sucks. I've since added an amp with 10" subwoofer sitting on one of the folded down rear seats, which helps a lot, but inevitably I'm going to replace the speakers with something better. Lots of threads on just this subject. Perhaps over the years your rear speakers cone material has disintegrated to the point that it's no longer attached to the speaker frame. Seems like I've seen some pictures of that from other owners.

Anyway, nice pic! I love the rims, and I miss the days when I was traveling to Brussels regularly for work and being able to sample all the excellent beers over there. Cheers!

Well hello there JP,
I've nothing to add that'll help,
But I have to say two things;
Your 993 looks amazing . I love black 993's , and the alloys are just .. perfect!

My speakers are just awful. i just about tolerate them , and as someone who plays and listen to a lot of music , I feel the speakers are more or less shot in all our cars and could do with a major upgrade.

.. On the positive side , your external music probably still sounds as good as the day it left the factory

Hi there!

thanks for your comments! Concerning the speakers, I did searched, but all I found were people upgrading their system. No this could happen to me to... I'll check the rear speakers to see in what shape they are. I'll keep you informed

Is it the upgraded audio package from the factory? Perhaps an amp going bad? Just a guess. I notice my drivers side front goes in and out sometimes and I think that is my problem. I have not had a chance to look deeper into it yet though.

Love your wheels!

I would guess the rear speakers are shot. If not, maybe the amp is burnied up on those channels. Also, if the system has been modified at all, the speakers could be out of phase?

One of the speakers having the positive and negative terminals switched around. At the speaker or amp.
