You should just start the "Projects at 9m" thread. I'd check in everyday!
Unfortunately I also have to work for a living. Maybe a webcam in the corner of the build shop would do the job? (Only kidding - before anyone get's carried away with the idea!).

We should have similar photo records of the 911T so I guess I should start a similar thread on the 911 forum?

As for better than tv, I guess you are right, we get a lot of US tv programs over here as well.......

That is a good idea on the camera. Turner Motorsport (BMW Tuner here) has 3 cameras set up so you can see whats going on. www.turnermotorsport.com (no affiliation) It is cool.

Colin,
First-class work. I would love to ship my tired old '95 to you one day for a complete, bare-shell, makeover.

Can you explain the E-coat process?

Here's what I understand of the complete process:

Take stripped bodyshell, mount to carry frame, ship to process plant. Shell is then fully imersion washed, acid dipped, neutralised & washed again until all traces of rust, paint & sealant removed (galvanising untouched). Shell then dried & sent to paint plant, where it's again fully imersion dipped into an electro-static vat of primer, which then chemically bonds itself in uniform thickness to every pore of the shell (including the inside of the roll cage) courtesy of differential electric charge between vat & car. Shell then lifted out, drained & baked dry.

The bottom line is that (in our opinion) this is the only way to achieve factory quality protection of a reconditioned bodyshell - so when we say we make the car as new we mean it. I'm not sure that there is anyone in the 'States using this process though.

Should have mentioned that over the past 12 months we have been collecting the parts to build our own street-sleeper RHD 9m64RS "Touring". It's not going to be a total restoration like this one because the plan is to use it as a rolling testbed for new ideas & engines that will find their way onto customer cars at a later date. Definitely in the specification though are a full RS lightweight interior, harnesses, 6 speed gearbox, carbon clutch, Motec, RS suspension & brakes and either a stock 964RS engine or more likely a wild 3.8 litre race engine (possibly with a centrifugal supercharger....). Keep your eyes open!
