Default OT: MCoupe addition...

Very OT, but figured you guys would appreciate this addition to the stable. I think it's a fugly, quirky car that is an interesting contrast to the 993.

For those of you who are BMW keeners, it's got the following:

-TC Kline coilovers with rear 'shorties'
-f&r monoballs, adjustable camber/caster plates
-rear subframe suspension bushings
-4 pt rollbar
-s52 3.2 liter motor
-e50 manifold
-Comforti air intake
-cat back exhaust
-reprogrammed ECU
-UUC shifter goodies

Pole Positions are going in next week and I'm selling the current Racetech seats, which are great but too deep for daily use.

FYI, this is about as low as you can run these cars, otherwise they get some nasty dynamic toe-out changes (e30 generation rear suspension).

I've had it at Mosport twice this summer and it is very easy to drive fast (50/50, traction control), obviously in part due to the current setup. It doesn't have the feedback and sensation of a 993 - or the ultimate speed of a well setup 993 track car (pending ), but it's fun in its own right.

I'm sure Alvin will chime in soon since he just made a similar interesting purchase to keep his e30 M3 company....

How can something be so odd looking, and so cool at the same time.....

I love the wheels and an excellent color choice. Love the blue

So many people think these are ugly cars, but I just love them and their bulldog looks. They always get my attention when I see them on the road. MOst of them seem to have rollbars and are, I assume, owned by dedicated BMW aficianados.

Very nice! Love the color. You've got it bad my friend, in a good way that is. I'm in the market for an E36 M3 now. Will most likely go for the Coupe rather than the M coupe or M3 sedan as I need to shuffle my kids around every now and then. I'm having a problem fining a "reasonable" specimen in this area as they are either pimped out or abused it seems or grossly overpriced. Perhaps as the season drags on things might "normalize". Where did you find yours?

I love it! It has been an all time favorite of mine but I opted to go with the next gen.
Have fun with her!

Beers - good to see there's someone else with a similar looking garage .

Freddy - yup, there are a lot of e36s that seem to be driven hard and put away wet by the Fast & Furious crowd. Have you been looking on Bimmerforums? I found mine in Atlanta, owned by a very picky guy who autocrossed it occasionally. He's now moved up to a 996TT and is a Rennlister.

It's CoNforti, not Comforti, or Jim C, JC for short.

Anyway, sweet ride! Just remember, that back end can come out quick, & is hard to catch! Believe it or not the S52 is more of a handful then the S54 due to all that low end torque.

There a very reliable car, & easy to work one, just remember, the rear suspension is a 25 yo design!

LOL, sorry about the spelling error.

Yes, the back end is quite fun - something best explored on a quiet road or autocross course with the traction control turned off. Re. torque, it will spin cold rear street tires in 1st and 2nd and squirm in 3rd. It's certainly better with sticky tires on - I've got a set of OEM 5 stars with Kuhmo V-710s for track duty.
