Default OT: Demo Sighting

Diggin' the Demo on the stand in the background!

You should see my garage - an '07 Demo 8 for the big races, '06 SX for Dual Slalom/Mountain Cross, P1 for urban fun, Stumpjumper FSR for Dad's (that's me) trail riding, a couple "Mountain" bikes from the mid-80s, a $25 garage-sale ten-speed (also from the 70s/80s), some mid-level BMX.

All these - plus my 993tt, an old M6, and my darling wife's 4Runner. Yikes - it's a traffic jam without anything moving!

BTW - the serious bikes all belong to my son - he's been racing NORBA in the Junior division for 4 years now, and will join up with the University of Colorado Mountain Bike team this fall (once he starts there as a freshman). I never knew much about mountain bike racing except that a work colleague was coming back on Mondays with a lot of trail rash/separated joints/broken limbs. Then my son jumped into it (and I encouraged him to keep him from racing motorcycles - that's TOO dangerous! LOL)

Congrats on the Bimmer as well. I still own 5 of them, and consider the older ones (mid-90s and back) as good cars, especially for the driving enthusiast.

Regards!!

Steve,

Nice eye. The Demo is a friend of mine's who hasn't yet entered the phase of buying life insurance or having to show up for work on monday without having broken something (he's already broken his back once and has some serious hardware in place).

However, there are a few goodies (Roubaix, Epic, FSR) hiding in the garage that I use for psychotherapy .

Sounds like your son is having fun!

Regards,
Matt

So you're going to be somewhere between Wasaga Beach and Midland. I'm on the west side of Collingwood (Craigleith), roughly 45 min from where you'll be.

I'll PM you my phone #.

One of the most fun cars they ever built. Especially if it's an S54 car.

Too bad it looks like a station wagon and drives like it has a hinge in the middle.

(Pay no mind to this post - just giving Adam a hard time)

Congrats on your new car.

Beautiful car and congrats! I had one from 2000-2002: S50, best car I've ever owned (subjectively). Loved the fact that every day, when I went downstairs, I'd have no idea whether I'd love of hate the way it looked.

What's yours? S52 or ultra-rare S54?

S52 with e50 manifold and remapped ECU. The look is growing on me (like fungus), and the rather loose back end (did something break back there?) makes for fun driving .

If you hear a clunk, it's the rear shock mounts, they tend to not last long in most BMW's. But there a 30min job.

Great little car... I have an '00 MRoadster with a similar set up... they are truly awesome little cars. I know people talk about the rear suspension as being from the E30... but that is quoted just because the magazines quoted it... in real life, real world scenarios, (even track) I don't think it is an issue at all... certainly not any more of an "issue" than leaf springs on a Z06.

And Sam, you will love the E36 M3... I had a '97 silver coupe... one of the nicest all around drivers I think I've owned.
