Driving characteristics? Image? Build quality? Pick up women (or men...JoAnne, Addrianne, Dennise
)? Heritage? Midlife crisis? Sound? Lifelong dream? Watched No Man's Land one too many times? What say you?

I was 32, single, and having a great time (I was a match.com ****, vacationing all over the world) when I purchased my first (and only) Porsche. No specific reason for buying one. Just a treat for myself for a little hard work. I was looking at the Dodge Viper and Porsche 993's.
I wanted something that wasnt really common, nice looking, and was cool. I have 1 of 538 95 C4's produced in the US.

As I told my wife, the gas and maintenance on my MB 300SEL 6.3 was too high. My admin at work told me I was old enough at 44 to get my first one.

I was on ferrarichat (no, not buying one!) this morning and came upon a thread with the same title. I found the responses interesting and somewhat different from the reasons I've heard Porsche owners site so I thought I'd ask.

Because I like the way they look and have wanted a 911 ever since my dad purchased a brand new pumpkin orange '73 911T Targa when I was a kid. The fact that these cars convey a mixed message of high performance, automotive heritage, and success doesn't hurt either, but thats not why I own one.
