Really tough call, so many options to choose from.
You definitely chose the most benign option. Whether it was the "high road" or the most mature is not for me (or us) to judge, it's up to how you feel at the end of the day. It definitely sounds like you went with your gut and made the right choice for you. Congrats.
Did the guy get off with the lightest possible penalty? Yes, I think so.
Is he truly sorry? No way, no how. I was a bit of a bad boy in my teenage years, and I was also *very* good at saying 'I'm sorry' and moving on to the next delinquent act. I even shed a few tears on occasion.
The only thing that fixed me, in a sense, was starting to realize that the world isn't such a big anonymous place that I thought it was. That's where the key to your decision comes in. Great job and letting important people know what's going on, and making him realize that his career and future will be affected by his actions.
You're definitely deserving of a pint or few! I'd love to buy you one when I make it to Dublin.
A kidney, well, we'll see. Maybe after a few pints

Wow... I thought this was a hoax!
On balance I think you played this well. As you say Dublin is a small place.
The guy hopefully has learnt a life lesson. Hopefully.
Cheers

I think he got a "lesson learned". Do I think he would do it again? I actually doubt it. It's given him something to think about, he got a lesson in "class" from you, and his name is mud with the agency.
I hope the cops at least give him a chat.
I would have also accepted more money from him to pay for a mod.
I am still wondering what the position was for and what type of business you are in. Did I miss that in this lengthy thread?

You could've let someone else interview him. Offer him the job. Let him hand in his notice at his old job. Fire him at the end of the 1st week and leave him out of pocket for a few weeks until he finds another job.

Hello lads,
A link came off the 964 forum for this...Brilliant! As for parking, it doesn't matter where, there's always an A******E around with a complex. I've had my 964 keyed and kicked in Galway(West of Ireland), usually a totally civilised place. How often have I thought that it would be worth it just to catch one but this is sweet. Please Please Yuotube it!
Colm , Galway.
(Would love to make the PCI meet but I'm waiting for a speed sensor,so if it's done I'll be there.)

Hi all ,
Duhh!! Just realised that I posted at the end of this thread having only read the beginning of it....so hence my youtube request. Maybe you were right to take the high road, don't know if I'd have been so noble. Hopefully he won't perpetrate similar again. The sad thing is is that he's probably a Trinners grad from D4 and a Rugger bugger to boot.
Dubs will get that!
All the best,
Colm Galway

Good luck with your choice of how best to handle this situation (you better than us know what the situation is in your neighborhood).
IMHO: You should have at least had a good talk with this A hole about what had happened and why he didn't get the position he applied for because this is definitely a reflection of his **** poor character. It may have been his moment of truth and led him in a better direction. He may now rationalize things and blame you for his bad fortune.
