I was searching this forum for ideas for attaching my LP to the front of my new turbo bumper. I had the LP holes filled before it was painted. In one of the Threads someone suggested Velcro and another person suggested making your own LP holder out of an old LP. So, I put the two together and here is what I came up with.
Parts at Ace Hdwre. HD Velcro, 2 Rubber Bumpers, 2 SS Washers
Bend LP 1.12"s from top
Cut Velcro into 1" strips
Attach "fuzzy" Velcro to LP
Insert Rubber bumpers and SS washers
Cut off nipples of Rubber Bumpers
Stick hook part of Velcro to the underside of bumper
Attach LP
I am required to have a front plate on the car in Colorado, but I will probably keep the LP in the trunk and only attach it if someone with a badge suggests I do so! Now I need to do a quick Italian Tune Up and see if it stays on.

Looks good! It might be a good idea to safety wire the plate at both ends. You could do something trick and use two retractable keychains (http://www.uline.com/ProductPopUp.as...e/HD_258_L.jpg) to make it easy to retain the plate and to access it for quick removal. Also, if the standard hook and loop Velcro is not adequate, there is another type of heavy-duty "velcro" that uses interlocking pieces; it works very well. I want to say it's called Swiftlock, but that's the name of the flooring laminate.

The package of Velcro in the photo is Industrial Strength. The adhesive is very strong. I used it in my interior of my 87, 911 to stick down certain carpet pieces that I wanted to not glue down for access reasons.
If we're talking about 3M's Dual Lock, yes, the adhesive is better, but so is the fastening system. It uses these "stems" that bind into one another. They're much better than the traditional hook and loop.

Do you know where I can find some of the 3M Dual Lock in smaller quantities?
