Guys: I've read that a touch-up gun is better than an airbrush. Can anyone with experience chime in.

You don't have to spray the stuff, just easier to blend or do a partial seat.
I used it on the rear portion of the wheel too... the vinyl part. It looks like a black steering wheel.

The only difference when doing vinyl is to not use any sort of petroleum-based product to wipe it down prior to coloring. This is not required anyhow (unless you want to strip exisiting color from the part)... but it will melt the vinyl if you try it.

Guys - Dynamix worked fine after I learned to "dab" it on with sponge, not "wipe" it on, which left "brush marks." Anyone want before and after shots, just e-mail me. I don't klnow how te free up storage on the Rennlink site. (Or tell me how, and I'll post them.) They are UK also. Need to clean with methalated spirits (denatured alchohol), then dab on. I had to try 2-3 times to get touch right. Let dry to matte finish, and a day or so later put on the conditioner for lustre and leather smell.

MarkD/FisterD:
What is that color called, did you order it from Colorplus, if so how, etc etc?
I have the same gray interior. The colorplus site lists classic gray as a stock color but I'm pretty sure that is a much darker gray.
thanks
Jon
94 968, also gray/bule interior

If you have black seats, you can buy Auburn brand Leather Dye at motorcycle shops. Made for motorcycle saddlebags and leathers, it works great, and is the right sheen to hide those abraided spots. Put mode conditioner over it once it dries. Used in on my 911s many times.
Wish they made it in Classic Gray for the 993.
It is a shame that Porsche basically spray-paints the leather instead of dying all the way through.

This link has additional information including links to the airbrush used.
Before using the airbrush on the leather, I used a piece of cardboard to establish the spray pattern and to determine the optimum thickness of the dye. If I recall, I set the air pressure to the brush at around 40 psi. Again, you can use some cardboard to test various pressures and air brush tips. Usually the brush kit comes with about 3 tips that provide different spray patterns.

This was not a "stock" color for colorplus. They tend to have the earlier color formulas. I sent them a sample to match (I used a 1" sq swatch from the bottom side of one of the rear seat pads and a piece from behind the seat hinge cover). This is Marble Grey, IIRC, and since I had the match done she should have the formula already documented. If not, I have the info in my paperwork. Shoot me a PM...
I am out of town right now so can't get much done for a bit.

This is what Dynamix carries (one of two sheets of Porsche) check the other. I don't see the light grey match there, but maybe you can satisfy yourself. (No affiliation)
