For Sale - Like new Bosch Hammer
I have a "like new" Bosch Hammer (Bosch KTS 300) for sale, complete with the last Porsche Software version (8.1), charger and an OBD II cable.
I'm asking $1400 plus shipping.
For full details, and more pictures, see here:

PM me if interested. Any questions, I'll try and answer here.
Thanks!

I read in Adrian Streather's excellent 993 book that the hammer was really useful.
$1400 seems like a lot compared to other OBD-II scanners. How much is it new? In what way is it so much better than other tools?

Most (not all) OBDII scanners are just that, scanners.
The Hammer can pretty much take control of all of the electronics in the car - start fans, check switches and linkages, move flaps, code country functions, check the systems etc etc.
Much more use than a scanner that might be able to set/reset a few codes.
Basically the complete test facilty sits under your control in your hand.
New, these were a lot, (multi thousands!) and they don't come on the market very often.
Really useful if you wish to do a lot of DIY, plan to keep the car a long while, and don't want to sink money to the dealer for diagnosis etc.

I know of a clone software of the PST-2 unit, basically it is a IBM laptop with the cloned software and hardware key lock built in, you will have to buy the laptop together with the software. Very pricey, but works for both 993 and 996, I have tried it and it works good.

Tentatively sold...
Lee - (IIRC) The Hammer has an embedded 680x family processor in it, with the "application" being held in an external removeable ROM cartridge. Probably not too hard to emulate, but figuring out the internals would be a major project!
Robin, Yes, the PST-2 is a great tool Puts the Hammer to shame, but then techonology always marches on...
