Question 19" Wheels on a 95 NB?

I'm thinking about replacing my OEM wheels (17") and was wondering how may 993 owners have gone with a 19" setup? I'm finding there aren't allot of manufactures producing 18" wheels with the proper offsets to fit a NB. I would like to go with 8's up front and 10's in the rear. I know BBS, HRE, DPE and Fiske make 18's to fit but they are a bit out of my price range. Getting back to my question, if you have gone with 19's, are you happy with your decision?

Thanks for your time.

19" is awfully big. I cant speak to the technical reasons as to why you don't want 19" but do a search as there is plenty of discussion here as well as the PCA tech forum as to why you don't want to. I run 18" on my 993 as well as on my GT3 which was spec'd with 19". I'm much happier with the 18" wheels on the GT3 too. Tire choices are far more plentiful for 18" as well and a bit less expensive. There are tons of rims available in 18" too.

The only 19" wheels that look "right" on a 993 are the Ruf's, IMHO.

Performance, tire selection and cost issues aside, IMHO aesthetically only a Turbo looks OK w/ 19" rims. I think the tail and deeper spoiler adds heft to the shape and better balances the bigger wheels. But it also depends on the style of wheel....I think 5 spoke style wheels are better than mesh styles as they don't look quite as big.

Go with the 19"s. I have Rufs. I think they looks great. Some on here will tell you they are to heavy and look odd. For the track maybe not the best choice. but...... I get more compliments on the wheel than anything else. No problems.

Thanks brother. Thanks for the pm reply. The DACHs with the sport cats go on today. Don't know what really to expect without upgrading my motorsound muffs. Hope I can tell something is different.

Hey Mel, let us know how that DACH sounds on your car. I have a set coming at the end of the month from Chris, cat bypass with a set of his cans!!! Curious to see what you think, also if you can post a sound bite would be great. thanks

I am no expert, but two things to consider: ride comfort and torque...both will suffer, IMO.

Fantastic-I will probably hear that setup down here on the border. Did you get the oil change arranged? I have 4 good stands if you need to borrow some.

I ended up taking the car to the Porsche center. I know I’m going to get stuck but they are a good group of guys. Always treated Mike and me very nice. Honestly going to look into a nice pair of jack stands brother or maybe a small hydylic lift.

why not buy used set of one of these wheels on rennlist or ebay. I would not put a cheap set of 19s on a 993. I have purchased nice used sets of 18in BBS and Fiske for under 2k.

melmann911,
Your avatar has been making me think hard about your tire/wheel set up for awhile. Now with these new pictures of your car, plus these pic's from the Ruf get together, I'm really sold. Could you tell me what tires you are using and if anything else is required for your set up.

Thanks,
