Silver bulb for sure. Here some on eBay.

Another option are these LED's

I may order a pair of the LED's to try out, they'll last forever.

(note, make sure to check socket type)

Don't think the LED blinker-type works without a resistor or something. There is a Rennlister "ACEparts_com" (aceparts.com) who does the whole LED thing..if you do go that route.

http://autolumination.com/1156_1157.htm

Scroll about 3/4 of the way down the not-very-well-designed web page and you will find Silver Chrome 1157 bulbs in amber (and other colors). They look silver but light amber.
$2.99 each

Clear lense, amber bulb for CA unless you go with an LED as mentioned above, either way needs to flash amber.

Here's the rest of the ad:

"The led bulbs are plug and play type and very easy to install, most vehicle don't need any modification or extra work but if your vehicles do not work well with led bulbs, the problem can be easily solved by install a load resistor or a led electronic flasher parallel to the led bulbs. Please click load resistors for more info..."

The only reason I mentioned it not working is because I recall someone in the past year or two having problems with the LED flashers; corrected with the resistors...

Please let us know how it turns out when you get them

Thanks Jeff - if any issues I will contact Alan at Aceparts and ask for suggestions - he mentioned about the leds with build-in resistors.

For an OEM ROW car, would a simple amber bulb be correct behind the clear lense?

I wouldnt think the factory used the silver dipped amber flashing type....?

They will work fine, but look horrible.

The silver bulb is the way to go

When I switched to the clear front corner lenses I shelved the amber bulbs that came with them (sockets ,too). I just reused the bulb (clear) that was there. I'm pretty sure amber OR white is legal in California for front blinkers. They are so "yellow" in comparision to the headlighs and fogs, I think a cop would have to be real ***** to hassltle you on it. I like the fact that the clear corner with clear bulb matches the front parking lights (just inboard of the fog lights).
