Default Brad Penn Oil Change Interval Update?

With all the recent discussion on what is the appropriate oil to be used in our 993s... I like some switched to BP over M1.

Folks with experience using BP oil (Steve and/or Charles if you're reading this), what would you recommend?

My car is not a daily driver but I do take it to DE events (approx. 200 miles per event) every other month or so, with 2 - 3k miles logged over a given year. Reading similar questioned threads... people have recommended changing the oil after every other DE event. That was based on M1 experience. Would you recommend similar intervals on BP oil (bearing in mind that it is a semi-syn oil)? TIA!

If you are driving the car 2-3K annually, I would change the oil twice a year.

IIRC, Charles mentioned to me that I should change mine at least annually on BP 20/50. (2000 miles per year of street driving.)

While we're talking about partial synthetic, what benefit is there in having 10% synthetic in the blend? Just curious.

Steve, thanks for the reply. So, twice a year which includes ~3 track events per oil change would be fine eh? Ok, sounds good to me. I appreciate the advice.

The main object is not storing the car with anything but fresh oil in the engine to prevent corrosion. I change the oil before putting the car away for the winter and once again at the beginning of the driving season.

Steve, does this include track cars? I keep hearing change after every other event. Is this too much as well for track only cars?

Thanks

Jeff

Oil change intervals will vary depending on how many events one does and whether street use is also part of the mix.

I like to change oil every other event but it depends on the car, modifications, and the oil being used.

Clear as mud, eh?

But with Brad Penn in average street use?
Would changing every 5k be like changing synthetic every 10k?
Do I have to change filters too every change?
Or is skipping filters every other change OK if the intervals are that short.
Its a daily driver and it could get expensive otherwise

Drain interval has nothing to do with synthetic versus non-synthetic. It has to do with the TBN of the motor oil more than anything else. Both the Brad Penn 20w50 and Mobil 1 0w40 start out life with a TBN of ~ 10.0 for example. Used oil analysis is the only real way to be 100% sure about your drain interval. That said, I pulled a sample from my '91 with 4500 mi and i'll post what the results were as soon as I get them back.
