Found them for $72/ea. Interesting writeup on their website as well...

I wouldn't necessarily assume that AC Hydraulic actually had their stands manufactured in Europe. I was told from the rep at Esco that Esco has contracted with the same Chinese manufacturer that AC used for these jack stands... but I can't verify that information.

Not being picky, but why is the Esco rated at only 6000 lbs. (vs. 6600) when it has additional cross-leg supports that the AC didn't have? Is the metal quality and thickness that much less than the AC stands that even with additional support it is still lighter and supports less?

Just a thought.

Chuck,
My AC stands have the cross bracing and have proven to be worth every dime since I purchased them in '05. When I purchased the stands from The Ultimate Garage, Steve mentioned that they were manufactured either in Germany or Sweden.

Having seen the ESCO stands in person, I'll say without hesitation that they are worth the asking price. By all appearances, they look identical to my beat-up AC stands.

Andreas,

Are those hockey pucks? Or special adapters?

jungleboy,
That is where I originally purchased my AC stands. Thankfully I was able to pick them up from a distribution center.

Hockey pucks. The stands work perfectly fine as they are, but adding the puck (smaller diameter) allows me to more easily remove the fender liners/rocker covers.

Make sure you're comparing apples to apples. The lighter duty stands never had cross bracing. The heavier capacity ones did. I've seen vendor sites use the wrong stock photos for the 1500 vs 3000 vs 5000.

Is that so you can get to 100% of the underbody plastic with the Aerospace 303 much easier? Just askin'

Ya know, I bet a small U.S. based shop, manufacturing, selling direct and fulfilling in-house, could make money at $72 each for something like this.
