I live 3 miles from the Esco headquarters here in the Spring Hill / Brooksville area. I'll stop by and see if they have any new stands in stock and take a pic that I'll post. I also have the AC stands at my shop (along with 8 jacks) Great stuff. Easy for me though just to pick stuff up and avoid shipping costs.

No disrespect intended. My experience here on Rennlist is "first come, first serve".

If I had known I'd get this much response to my post, I would have put them up on rBay (rennlist Bay) and let the bidding begin

In all seriousness, to be fair to the others who PM'ed me earlier, you'd be 4th on the list.

Sorry about that. If the sale doesn't go through (and I have no reason to think it wouldn't), then I'll let the next person in line know.

Chuck

PS If you want to give me $500 for them, then screw the other guys, I'll see you this weekend (just kidding)

Turns out that AC no longer contracts with the factory that produced these stands. Apparently, ESCO now contracts with that supplier and production started in December and January of this year.

The exact same jacks are now available, but will have an ESCO sticker on them. I spoke with All Tire Supply today and they had several in stock at $102 each.

Thanks for this info. What are your thoughts regarding the flat rubber surface versus the curved saddle with respect to safety? About the same or is the curved saddle a better design for supporting a Porsche.

The four support points under the car are flat. The flat-top AC stands (with rubber pads) are as stable and as safe as you'll find. There is nothing under the car that will work well with a standard, curved sadle.

I have spent many, many hours under my 993 and have complete confidence in the safety of these stands.

One caveat: most cars do not have a clear 3" round jack point area. So check your other cars before choosing.

Very true. I purchased a set of the AC curved saddle inserts at the same time and use those to support the rear of my truck (axle housing).

Finally had a chance to use my AC/ESCO jack stands. The peace of mind is priceless! ($90ea.) The large flat base and the round rubber top give a custom fit on our 993's. An added benefit is the extra height adjustment. At my age these eyes need the car a little further away than my nose!
I purchased from KB Tools, but I think Bob, located so close to ESCO may be able to get the best price.
Good Luck
Neil

I'll swing by tomorrow on my way to the landfill and pick up those old deathtraps you previously used.

I am so disappointed with your lack of personal responsibility! "one mans junk is another mans treasure" Those enterprising individuals, whose sole purpose is to liberate treasure from the dump would have those in the back of their Chevette before you could say-China!
Instead I will wrap each in newspaper to disguise their intended purpose and let them go out in the trash. Of course our local government ships all of its trash to West Virginia...

In the case of your old stands, junk is junk.

But you've moved on.

What's the torque value for those lower case studs?

Has anybody verified yet that the ESCO jackstands are in fact the same as the old AC ones?
