Fog light lens
I have done a search on this topic and come up with conflicting answers. Please try and clarify the issue for me.
I broke the lens on the driver's side front fog light of my 1995 C2. A Rennlist search provided opinions that (1) just the lens can be replaced and (2) the entire unit must be replaced. Has anyone had recent experience with this replacement? Details would be appreciated.

I asked my local independent Porsche shop to replace the lens and they ordered a replacement assembly. This isn't necessarily a definitive answer. I didn't inquire about a lens only.

I replaced the fog light assemblies and the corner lights at the same time on my 95 C2. They were starting to "fog up" a little bit. I heard the same conflicting reports online as well. some said the lens and some said the assembly. I chose to replace with new Porsche parts.
The P/N's were:
R 993.631.082.00
L 993.631.081.00
List price was about $260.00 each from Porsche, but deals can be found with some RL sponsors

I just replaced both (ouch). From the looks of the light if you can replace just the lens, it would not be an easy job. After price shopping, the least expensive place I found was the local Porsche dealer (believe it or not!). ~$220/each and no shipping.

One thing to consider: if you replace on side with a brand new unit, the other side will look dated and sometimes yellow. You may want to replace both at the same time.

True. This is why I replaced one headlight lens and one fog light. The PO had only replaced one of each due to rocks and the original ones looked hazy and yellow in comparison. Also replaced windshield for $500.

The board was correct. First, the whole unit must be purchased. Second, I was told to purchase from Sunset (no relationship). I shopped around and the list was $248 for the unit. Sunset charged me $177 + shipping. Third, Sunset accidentally charged another Florida purchase to my credit card. I caught it and they were very forthright and apologetic. I have friends in Portland who have purchased cars from them and I have visited them during the PCA parade. I just wish I could afford to deal with them long distance. They are class.
