I dig tubes, too, but I don't use them for hi-fi.

Default Another Bass Player (kinda)

Another hobby I started into fairly late on. Sadowsky and Aguilar make good company. Never had a chance to play a Modulus Colin.

ps I'm surprised at how many tube audio fans there are amongst us. The previous owner of my car was into that as well.

That's a really beautiful Sadowsky. I'm not totally into the wooden look for my own guitars but that one would definitely have tempted me to pick up and try.

One of the reasons why I like the Modulus came from my HiFi upbringing. Wooden necks add "color" or "warmth" to the sound which by definition means that they must be influencing the relationship between the resonating string and the pickup. All I wanted to hear was the purest source possible which the graphite neck achieves by having a natural resonance frequency well above the tone frequency of the strings - hence no coloration. There is also minimal internal damping within the graphite necks, so sustain (note duration) significantly improved over wood. You should try one someday, they are not for everyone as the sound can be very clinical, but this can be dialed out through the pre-amp or rig.

The other reason for having a carbon neck bass is that I like race car materials.

Ron,

That has to be the cleanest, most organized ham shack I've ever seen. Nice.
