Yeah...they started importing the 1995 model in January of 1994. Other markets have 1994 model 993s. In the US, federal regs made it easier to launch the 993 as an early 1995 model rather than having to comply with two model years.

I remember reading that a new rain gutter-less roof was also supposed to be introduced on the 993, but was held back due to $$$ concerns. It debuted on the 996 instead.

Hershey a few years back and it had 17" Cup II's. Those are also the
wheels that UT put on it's 1/18 scale Carrera S diecast model.

The 1995 model year lasted 18 months (from memory).
In my view, there are three iterations of the 1995 993 -- early, middle and late -- early had a simpler rear blower assembly, smaller or shorter stone guards, slide on second layshaft gear-- not certain about two or four plate LSD
Late build 1995 cars got immobilizer and high mounted TBL.

I have not heard this mentioned before, but when I ordered my 97 993 S I was told that the leather band that runs between the dash top and bottom bolster was some exotic leather that was only used on the S cars. I think it was carried over into the 1998 model year.
Anyone confirm this?

When I bought my car form the original owner, she gave me a video (which was given to her by the dealer when the car was new) which is called (something like) "Hidden Mysteries of the 911."
I've since given it to Coochas and he's put it up on his excellent site. Here is a link: http://www.coochas.com/porsche/Resources/993-Rome.wmv

Two interesting facts courtesy of the right honorable Mr. Streather!
The 993 design was originally to include the 'slap sided' look but the money wasn't available to do this until the 996 was being penned.
The roof line and luggage compartment is not only identical to the 964's , but remains unchanged from the '74 model year .

That video is great. Sounds like Patrick Stewart on the voice over. Interesting that the tech mentions pushing down on the hood crest to close the hood. Ive always hears thats a bad idea.
