which of the 911s in your opinion is the least appealing one ?(we all know the 993 is the sexiest)
imo - the 996,what do you guys think?

 

Ask and ye shall receive: 1999 996, base model, silver.

The later C4S (996) looked much better all around, due in part to its 993-esque rear reflector.

Hopefully this does not turn into an intra-board pissing match, with the 996 guys thoroughly saturating the geriatric air-cooled flag bearers, and the 993 folks screaming, "RMS!", "RMS!".......

It's all in good sport.

I agree with you Andreas. I know a guy that just got a silver 996 base and just passed him the other day. Couldn't tell what was coming...a 911 or a Boxster! Everyone makes mistakes I guess including the Porsche designers....

 

From the front they look the same but as they pass I think the Boxster is better looking

right,i was thinking the same but decieded to keep the boxster and cayenne out of it and limit to 911s only(being actually the real Porsches)

 

996, but I wouldn't turn it down for a daily driver to drive in the rain and snow, especially a C4S with the 993 taillight bar.

+1 on the early 996's. sharing headlights and being easily mistaken for a car that's known as "the porsche with panties" isnt my cup of tea when driving a 911

 

Agree, I was so disappointed when the first 996s came out. I'd lusted after a Porsche for so long, but couldn't bear the looks of the early 996s...even as an officianado, I couldn't tell a 996 from a Boxter from the front view.
Guess it made the decision heaps easier when a 993 C4S came up for sale.....
By the way, does anyone else see the similarity between the front view of the 997 and the "new Beetle". It's bugged me for a while...please tell me it's not just me?

 

Cabriolet on any 911 year or model, to my eyes, just kills the flowing line of the car. And you guys can **** on me as I pass.
