Default Missing bolt from SSR-GT3 Wheels

While I was flushing the brakes and clutch slave today, I noticed that one of the wheels on my car was missing a bolt. These are the bolts around the circumference of the wheel which hold the rim to the spider, 30 of them, with splined inhex heads. I called the vendor, tirerack.com, but the guy I spoke to didn't seem very excited about this potential huge sale. Does anyone know who makes these wheels, or where I might find this bolt?

Anyone have a trashed SSR-GT3 that we can steal a bolt from?

North Coast Cab,

If I do hear anything back from tirerack on these bolts, I'll post it here. If I can't get a line on the manufacturer or any other source, then I'll start in with my swap meet contacts, maybe go to the next Pomona swap to see if I can find them. If I do, I'll pick up some spares. How many do you need?

I checked mine and they are not M8 nor M6. I don't have any M7 bolts to try...

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your kind offer. I took a closer look when I removed this bolt, and it is 6mm X 32mm. I didn't realize there was a nut, which has a flared section with teeth that bear against the inside of the rim to act as a lock. About 3mm of the bolt extend past the nut, so 30mm length would work fine.

The bolt head is a 12-spline inhex, sort of a "cheese-head" with a tapered shoulder on the outer edge.

Here are a couple of pictures.

I'd just replace all of them with standard allen head bolts.

Hi Peter,

Sounds like a great idea. I'm missing one bolt, so I just replace all 120 bolts.

because of the tapper head/contact area I would try to locate the same type of nut and bolt. Proper tapper area is important in this case.

It has been my experience that the bolts used to hold 3 piece wheels together should be at least 10.9 in strength. Most of the wheels that I work on use M7 size bolts, and I have seen M6 bolts used on a set of Kinesis Super Cup wheels, which I had all pieces redrilled for the larger M7 bolt. I used stainless steel bolts so there never is an issue with rust on the exposed head.

Hi George,

Do you mean taper, as on the underside of the bolt head, where it bears against the rim?

Yesterday I tried to find a replacement bolt locally. I went to the largest wheel store around, and as soon as I mentioned SSRs, he said, "Oh you need to contact tirerack". Unfortunately tirerack's story is that SSR won't sell them the bolts or any other parts. Tirerack did provide the name of the importer, more-japan.com, and I have sent them an email...I'll keep you posted on the progress of getting this elusive bolt.
