Default M033/Blistein HD's Installed w/ Sport Designs (pics)

I recently had my M033/Bilstein HD's installed that I bought from Gert. I had them installed at RMG in Sunnyvale. Bob Grigsby is great. He took his time explaining things to me and we talked a little shop since it was my first time servicing my car there. Custom Alignment did the alignment. Ended up at 25 7/8 in the front and 25 1/2 in the rear. I still have plenty of thread left on the HD's to go much lower. I also added the Sport Designs with fresh Bridgestone Potenza RE750's which I also have on my Targa Speedlines.

The pic in the garage is before......

Ride height looks kinda high but maybe that's where M033 is supposed to be! Did you stay with stock sways? Other than that nice car!

She looks nice. Describe the difference in ride from your perspective.

Wow! Your car looks great!!!

Please share your perception of how the car drives compared to the stock set up.

Mine has the M030 suspension with 16"rims from the factory, but I am considering upgrading to Bilstein and 17" Cups to get a firmer ride, particularly in curves. After 150K km, I guess the stock shocks are a bit tired.

I did the same change on my 964 and the improvement was staggering.

Take care,

Jens

Looks great. I'm considering the exact same mod and would love to hear if the the ride is better/same/worse. I worry about a stiffer ride making my Targa have lots of new squeeking noises on rough roads.

Regarding handling, you seem to have 18" wheels so it would interesting to hear about handling regarding bump steering as well as ride. Did you make any other suspension adjuctments? Thanks. I'm about to pull the trigger on the same exact upgrade along with a new 3 spoke steering wheel.

I did that mod a few months ago and the difference is HUGE.
The ride is firm but nice and you really get to feel what the car is doing.
It gives a real sense of stability and feels like a sports car should. No back problems or big clunks and bangs like a full on race suspension set up, just feels more like a real drivers car now. This is the single best upgrade ANYONE can do for there 993.
I got mine from Gert as well. It only took a few days to get to NZ as well. He's a really great guy to deal with.

Thanks to all for the positive responses. To answer some of the questions I will start by saying that I really haven't been able to give her a good workout yet because of the weather here in NorCal although I have done some spirited driving around town. What I have noticed is its a harder ride with the 18 in. Sport Designs but we all knew that. The Targa top doesn't rattle anymore than it did with the old set up. One of these days I will get in there and tighten it up. I kept the original sway bars and did not add the extra lock nuts on the rear. I believe the ride hight with the Sport Designs started somewhere north of 27 in. So when the weather finally breaks I'm going to drive it like I stole it and will report back....

I just completed the M033 upgrade on my '95 cab with factory parts from Sunset. The ride is spectacular compared to the stock Boge/US springs and I have yet to get it aligned (having it done tomorrow at HBL). The floatiness is gone, tad stiffer, corners flatter and this is how it should have come stock from the factory. Can't beat it for $732 + shipping and I do have Bilsteins on my BMW's and they are way stiffer due to gas pressure nature of the shocks but that is personal preference.

I did the work myself w/ a a buddy and it is very easy and saved $1200 or so in labor. The write-up by Jeff on DIY Suspension Install for Dummies helped tremendously. thanks Jeff. This is the first time I did a major DIY maintenance on my Porsche and I could not be happier. If you want a aggressive stock type of ride, go with the M033 package from Porsche.

WOW! Congtrats to you. Looks really nice. I can't wait to do this mod to my car. I would maybe dial it down just a knats *** lower, but it might settle down a tiny bit, anyway. I bet it rides just like it was intended to from the factory.

P.S. I really like those wheels on our 993's
